Actually... I am hoping that you love it and aren't about to tempt me with that low price you got it for. Invariably that will be the time when that money is actually needed for something else. Seriously, I hope it does you well. Only used feather's once so far and that was exactly my result. Shave 1 was great. Shave 2 was OK. Shave 3 and I was tossing the blade before I finished the first pass. Can't wait for the 7 O'Clock yellows and blacks I ordered to come in... Have you tried KAI? I like them quite a bit and may order some as well... If I don't go crazy with more SE stuff..... wait too late. Put Red IP in.. Shave day 1. meh... .shave day 2... meh.... shave day 3 meh to not good. Day 4, put in different blade and wonder why I wasted the time with red. Actually loved these at first. However, I kept trying other blades and now I am just not happy with them. I should have quit testing while I was on the red. It would have been much cheaper that way. Wonderful. I like the test. Although I love that razor now, when I was single I am not sure if I would have been more attracted to you or scared. I would like to think I would have been very enticed... I found all SS to be more mild than I like. Wrong weight, wrong profile, etc.. I get better results with a tech than most SS. I get much better results with a NEW. Hey, try a NEW. The old style are good, but I love the NEW. Others, like Fuzzy, like the New Improved. Me, I love my NEW. I can't wait for my replated heads from cooncatbob to arrive. Yup.. he is bad... watch out for Dave as well... Between the two of them I have been bit more than once by the SE RAD bug.

I want to try those Kai blades. Who sells them? I here they are as sharp as a feather but maybe even smoother. Oh, If I didn't tell ya your soap package left this morning.
Everyone should get another sampler pack at about the six month mark or even a different sampler to re-test blades. I didn't realize how badly the IP's were pulling until I tried a blade that did not pull. It can be tough; finding the blade that does it for you. It's been a great big PITA IMO.
I picked mine up from DrIdiot. Yes, they ship from Singapore, but I don't think it was that long of a wait and he was decent to work with. I have been wondering if the unmarked DE blades that is sold at www.tedpella.com is the same as KAI. They are the only unmarked blades that I have seen. The website isn't loading at the moment so I can't pull it up to attach an image.
I have passed the 6 month point and I am still sampling.... when will it ever end. Actually, I have a bulk amount of Astra, a bulk of Yellows ordered and hopefully a bulk of Black on the way... so I am set.. And yet.... I still sample.

I ordered some Astra's both keramick's and superiors, some Wilkinson Sword and some Treets just for that reason. I realized that I haven't tried anything else in my slants but the feathers. I have been using the slant for 3-4 months and I am sure technique, etc has improved after a year of this shaving. Now with a new razor coming I am glad I did order some different blades to try.
Don't have any kids, but I do have an interesting experience. I bought my father a brush and some TOBS Rose and Salters Sublime Citrus last Christmas. I was also visiting him and my mother during Christmas and ended up standing up in front of the mirror with him teaching him how to get a good lather with the brush. He hadn't shaved with a brush in ages and really loved it.
I've only tried a "regular" SS and the Blue Tip. I got much better shaves from my Blue Tip than my "regular." However, my "regular" is on loan to a friend, and my technique has improved greatly since I gave it to him so it will probably work better for me now. I've never tried a Red Tip. I agree about the weight and profile of SSs. I like the heft of my Fatboy and Slim TTOs, and like the lower profile of my Fat Handled Tech... They're on my list. I will some day, I'm sure. I've got some straights I want to get started with soon... I have some KAIs that came in a sampler I bought from TstebinsB...KAI, Shogun, Croma, Dorco 301s, and maybe one or two others I can't recall right now. Maybe I'll try the KAI tomorrow, I never did get to them or the Shoguns. The Cromas weren't bad, I think, but I didn't like the Dorco 301s much...
