  1. Great setup, Neal! I will be trying the Voskhod for the first time later this month! Do you consider it an intermediate aggressive blade?

  6. Perry, as the leader of the band, the selection of this shaving sonata was stupendous!

  8. Voskhod is a sharp blade, but not Feather sharp if that makes sense. Definitely a smooth blade for me that lasts 3 to 6 shaves easily.
  9. I just purchased the Stirling Satsuma soap and AS because of the mandarin orange scent. I was thinking about the Orange Chill but I don't know if I would like an AS with menthol.
  10. Thanks, Joe!
I have very few uses with either razor. If you want very early impressions I would say the Slim feels a bit smoother. Subject to change after I get more familiar with each razor.

  13. Thanks Joe! I liked the looks of the Original Merkur Futur on first sight. Not Star Wars or Star Trek, it could be a cool Bond tool. Do you have a favorite 007? Sir Sean Connery's Scottish brogue set the tone. To me all others are replacements.
  14. thank you sir..

  19. Agressive/mild refers only to razor geometry.

    Sharp/smooth denotes blade qualities.

DE Rule of Thumb, long version:

Sharper blades require more precise control over angle and pressure. This is why shavette is harder to master than SR. The sharper the blade, the less smooth it will feel upon the skin. Most blade reviews are subjectively written by people who do blade samplers as newbies, and the results are mostly indicative of sub-optimal technique. Blades don't matter nearly as much as people like to pretend they matter. Thus, ignore blade reviews. (; As technique and skill mastery increases, blades matter less and mean more. There's no reason not to use Voskhod now!

Hint for new converts: Blade samplers make no sense for you! If you were learning golf, you wouldn't buy a 24 ball sampler, would you? Might it be better to focus on swinging the club?
