Finally shaved. Arko. Fatboy. Feather blade. 30DC brush. It's been a while since I've used an adjustable or even a TTO, as SE's, shavettes and open Combs have been getting most of the love lately. Well, I got lazy and made a serious newbie mistake. I lathered up for my head shave first, grabbed my razor, and on the first stroke noticed a lot of blade chatter. Yep - forgot to check and make sure the cap was tightly closed. It was not. I'm am now the proud owner of a nice little raw spot across the crown of my bald head. First time I've drawn blood in ages. It wasn't deep, and it stopped quickly, but still...it totally wiped out my mojo. Finished rest up with no problems, but it wasn't my best work. When it all flies off the rails on the first stroke, aiming for excellence seems futile. Settled for good enough and threw on a cap. On a happier note, my youngest child operates at 11 all hours of the day. She even talks in her sleep, loudly and creatively. She has ADHD with anxiety. She has focus issues. School has been a struggle for her. Well, recently we found a medication that seems to help her with no adverse side effects. She brought home her first honor roll report card today. She's smart, funny, creative and has a fantastic vocabulary but has not been able to translate that to the classroom until now. And, her teacher wrote us a note after they had their latest reading progress evaluation. Now this kid has always struggled with reading. She likes to be read to, but she would struggle to read on her own. We've been working hard at it, and she now has the highest lexile score in her class. I'm not much on bragging, but this is huge for her and I had to share it with someone. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
I liked the little menthol kick the oil had, but it seemed to have a negative effect on my lather. Once I got some M-bomb, I got my menthol kick from it. Problem solved. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
Gotta love when your kids do well! Enjoy and celebrate the victories, Chris. As a dad of 2 girls that I’d do anything for, I’m proud for her as well!
Congrats to your little girl, Chris! Such great news. I would be bragging too! Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
Arko Adjustable April April 4 Razor - 1972 (S2) Gillette Super Adjustable (Black Beauty) (9) Blade - (1) Soap - Arko Brush - The Canuck Post - Alum Time to change razors and blade so let's go from the Toggle to the "newest" Gillette adjustable in my den, the Black Beauty. Still on 9, of course, and I'll go with the Rapira Platinum Lux for the blade. Sharp and smooth, this is one of my top Russians and should provide some great shaves. Still with Arko for April and the Canuck will do just fine to make enough lather to share with everybody. I like the long handle on this razor and it has good weight to it as well. Makes it a very nice shaver that requires no extra help from me other than to get the angle right. Two passes and I was going to call it good but just couldn't resist another pass. That got me as smooth as I'll ever be so it was worth the effort......and the fun of the extra pass. This will be a good few nights of shaving, I can tell. Friday beckons! Then the weekend! Hope you have fun things planned, or profitable, or at least productive. And yes, naps count as productive. Cardinals home opener is tomorrow!!!
hello fello shavers, thursday night shave, fat bottom techwith a fresh gsb,the rr bruce did the duty with the tfs crazy sandalwood soap, nice comfy 3 pass dfs+, no drama..proraso red to finish..in light of earlier discussion, i don't use my proraso preshave as much. not really needed, just another pleasurable product to use..skin loves it too..but not a necessity for a great shave..happy friday everyone..
All should be proud to be part if the King of TOST court you know...just saying. More people putting soap in their soup bowls...when does the madness end.
I just found out yet another friend died suddenly. That’s four in a few months. The woman that just died was amazing. She and her husband had nine kids (six of them adopted) and has fostered untold numbers of children. She was loved by all and will be missed horribly. I’m sorry to unload here, but I just got the call from my wife and needed to vent. Please pray for Ellen’s extended family and friends. Thanks guys.
That is Lustray Coachman. Bought off line. It is clubman in a different bottle. Made by pinaud too. I am guessing it is meant for a upscale market. I can not tell any difference to clubman at all. I can not remember where I got it.
I'm not misusing a soup bowl. Mine's the improper use of a Japanese spice grinding dish. Whole 'nother kettle of horse of a different color. ( at Paul @Paul Turner for the mixed metaphorical analogy)
Day 90. It's late, so I'll be even more terse than usual. The Frostbite aftershave is empty! The soap is close. Awesome shave with the Gravjura & Karve. I really need to get the Karve out more often.
