Let me have the honor of assisting @RyX with the metaphor-"a horse of a different kettla fish". But you were close!! :)

So, I used the brush, razor, aftershave and scuttle from the Travel Box 2019 for this mornings shave.
I will save the video for now, since we have something going on across the street.
This boar brush is breaking in nicely, and still has lots of backbone, I'm impressed by it. I was expecting the Star razor to shave similar to a Gem Damanskee, and while they are close, I prefer the star! (Now another rabbit hole for me to explore. )
The Arko aftershave gel was exactly what I was hoping it would be, no big surprise, and the scent is very pleasing, though not long lasting .
All in all great shave this morning. Will is at least one other thing from the travel Box, then start working on collectingsome samples to try down the line!

Great shave Aaron. Does the Star shave similar to a 1912?

IMHO the Star is better. I feel more blade, and I like that. It is more agressive than the 1912, so take that how you will. I know I prefer it based on the the agressiveness (SP) of the star.
I will try another blade as well, but I suspect not much difference when using the other blade!

    April 5th
    Razor: Gillette Slim L1(9)
    Blade: Feather NHS (1)
    Brush: Montalvo badger/boar
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: A&E Asian Plum
    Thayers Lavender witch hazel
    PAA Star Jelly unscented
    AS: A&E Asian Plum

    Good morning!

I have never used this word to describe my shave, epic! A truly epic shave from today's hardware and software choices. Three passes with quick touch up left me near BBS. The alum had nothing to report. Everything came together this morning and worked in perfect harmony.

I love Feather blades, especially first use. I don't get the harshness others have spoken of. Remembering back to my first use of a Feather blade, I entered the shave with caution after hearing of the sharpness and harshness. Shortly after my shave I ordered three hundred of them. I'm worried I don't have enough! At the rate @Terry is going through them there may be a shortage!

A&E is my favorite soap. It did not disappoint this morning.

    Yup, epic!

    Have a great Friday![IMG]

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

Interesting brush handles. Probably knock offs of the ones @BaylorGator has custom made with real gold and silver for when he stays at the Ritz. That razor looks like a clone of the Kai pain stick. And the no-name blades. What could go wrong with that?!

Soooooo....I just went over and ordered a razor with 10 blades. Yeah, my curiosity on this one is way too high. They gave me a $3 coupon as a first time buyer which was good, because I was going to have to pay nearly $10 for this!! Total cost after coupon for razor and 10 blades - $6.70. What the heck. MAYhem is just around the corner.
