  1. Feel free to send any "too mild" razors my way for disposal. :)

On the PAL, the 'L' stands for "Light beard" and the 'H' for "Heavy beard". It adjusts by moving the safety bar forward and back in relationship to the blade (Light is further away, Heavy is closer). It wasn't until I saw this that I realized why I like a Schick E2 over the supposedly milder G1; the G1 actually is more like a Pal on 'H'.

By comparison, the Schick Adjustable works by moving the safety bar up and down which changes the blade gap.

  2. Second day of shaving with my glasses on. I'm getting a few more nicks than without the glasses. This could be due to administering less soap on, perhaps for fear of getting some on my glasses. But it's so great to "see" the soap on there(suds and all). Without the glasses, it(the soap)looks like a cloud. For rinsing off the soap after the shave(thus preparing it for the aftershave)I take my glasses off, figuring the rinse takes just a couple seconds.

  3. Clint, I suppose I used the "backdoor" of Joe's post to learn what happened to you. I'm glad things are a bit better. I find myself stressed more often than not. The art of Mindfulness is something that's become important to me("being in the moment"). I hope Maya is doing all right.

  4. Of course @BaylorGator uses the gold brushes at home too. What's he gonna do? Flop down an Omega boar on the counter in his own shave den? Indeed, no such ragamuffins are allowed in Richdom!

And the word on the street is that he quietly keeps his fridge stocked with Breyer's Ice Cream. ;)

    Razor: Gillette New Improved Tuckaway
    Blade: Voskhod (2)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Williams
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Today's razor is a bit of a mismatch. The head is from a newly-acquired Gold NI Tuckaway but the handle is from my older Silver Tuckaway which still lacks a correct head. The Gold handle has a crack and the repair needs a bit more time before it is ready to use. (I'll post pics in the Haul thread later.) This is my first time using a New Improved.

First impressions- overall, it feels a more like a New than an OT. It reminds me most of a New Deluxe. Efficient, but it will nip when you aren't watching. The result was a two-pass BBS (or close enough) with no real noise from the Alum but two small weepers. Like I said, it will nip when you aren't watching. Definitely an interesting razor.

  6. Thank you Danny and Paul. Maya is doing much better. She has started putting pressure on the leg now and will begin walking without crutches next week.

  15. It's safer for us all if we let @wchnu vent. See what happens when the relief valve on a water heater gets stuck?
