Thanks Terry. Honestly it took me a couple steps to get the FB up to nine but I'm there and sticking to it. The 3-1/2 passes is my habit. Got my W,A,&XTG passes down to what it takes to make my shaves feel the way I like em. That extra half is mostly the edge of my jaw where I just can't roll around riding the cap. The best part is I seldom get a nick using the FB, Futur clone, Fatip, NEW LC, Lutz Slant, or Schicks. Newest razor in my den is that Double Open Comb that hasn't had enough face time to be second nature. Don't recall a nick with it but it looks fierce like it ought to bite.
i love it, my collection expanded due to being here as well, thought i had enough razors to play with, now i want a senator, a 3 piece new deluxe ,a brit #21 aristocrat, ...
Arko Adjustable April April 6 Razor - 1972 (S2) Gillette Super Adjustable (Black Beauty) (9) Blade - (3) Soap - Arko Brush - Jayaruh #312 Post - Alum This was almost a no-shave night but I decided to go for it. Saturday is going to be my busiest day in this new venture, but I cut it short tonight as I was still doing some research and trying to develop my full strategy. I did some runs today that I've never tried on Saturdays before since I was tied down to a "real job". I obtained some good data and I'm figuring that Saturdays will start later in the day than the rest of the days I'm working, but will definitely last much, much longer. So, Saturday no-shave may become a thing. For tonight, however, the third shave with the Black Beauty and Rapira PL is in the books. The JR312 with the fake horse knot is such a beauty and so great to use. It handled the Arko like they were made for each other. I actually lost track of passes. I did two, perhaps three. Or was it a longer first pass followed by a second. Whatever the situation I'm sitting with a very nice DFS and I'm a happy camper. I guess the "Zen" of the shave hit me tonight. Hope you have a marvelous Sunday! For the record, Sunday and Monday are my planned "weekend" at this point. One of the best things about this whole thing, though? Flexibility. I'm liking it.
Nice switch up from mug to gord. A GEM Jr on the face, and a Rockwell on the top end? Nice Patrick! tp
Nice shave Matt. There are more and more using menthol, might have to try it out sooner than later. tp
My grandpa, who survived the Dust Bowl and Depression on a farm in far Southwest Kansas, had a Ford tractor the entire time I remember him. I don't know the model or year, but I remember he had a "cab" on it. Open in the back but it covered the top and sides more or less. That old tractor lasted until he was forced to stop farming in the mid 1970's. I do know that he had bought that tractor sometime in the 50's, according to my Mom. That man knew how to take care of things and make them last. Remarkable that he raised his two kids on that sandy mess of a high plains desert, and even had a herd of registered Polled Herefords for the last 20 years or so of his life. That Ford tractor brings back memories.
My Fatip and a Posilver blade is amazing. Sounds like you are getting great shaves from thay little tool. Good luck with the 7 O'clocks James! tp
