I know many purist don't like either that is a brushless cream, or the medicinal smell, or that it tends to layer thick so you need to water it down, but having said all that it's still a good performer and even with this type of aggresive razors, a 4 pass shave and some buffing, the alum just gave a minor tingling.

After a rather disappointing Shave yesterday, the choice of Razor today was guaranteed to make up for it. Paired up with the
dependable Vitos the MicroMatic was extremely smooth and as usual terrifically efficient. I had no problems getting an ultra close all round finish. This gem of a Gem should be in every SE users armoury as once mastered it takes some beating.

Boy is this soap really not meant for shaving.

I decided to give it a go eventhough I knew already from previous use and then from going and doing a proper research, that it is really bad.

1st and 2nd use whipped up a lather that would dissipate really quick.

3rd pass was something not that bad, rubbing the soap directly onto the face. It dissipated fast though, but much more slicker.

The alum block really kicked me in the although no nicks.

Will have to really bring it out once in every blue moon, and just for the sake of the scent.

    Jayaruh #340 Badger
    J.A. Henckels

    Lucky Tiger

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Almalfi Basil Lemon Shave Soap face lathered well with Jayaruh #340 Badger brush. I did two passes with the J.A. Henckels Lather Catcher razor with a Henckels wedge blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Today is rainy, blustery, and just an Eeyore kind of day .However, they didn't stop me from having a first class shave!!!

Was looking at this razor all.week long, and after one last look, I just had to give her a try! Not the worst shave, but not the best shave either. It goes to show what is always soap here, technique trumps tools. DFS with the eversharp!
Still LOVE the scuttle, and while I don't need to, I use it in every shave just because I can! It will be a keeper for sure!

The brush, not so much. It's not a bad brush, but it's not a keeper either. I don't particularly get excited about it and while it performs just fine, I'm not going to keep it. I still prefer the boar knots that are stiff and have lots of back bone.

Since the soap is a custom deal, can't say much here except a review is coming. I can say this, I wish I had known about the orange blossom cologne before. I will be keeping this one and using it judicially.
Enjoy your day and shave on!
