Razor 1/6 - Gillette Aristocrat 1934 - 1935 variant Shave 1/2 - Bic blade First up in the progression. This is a deceptively mild razor, very smooth but will cut you up good if you don't show it the proper respect. Close shave but I can get closer with other razors. To compare it against razors that were being sold around this time it out performs any New razor I've used, short/long comb or DeLuxe. Both American Goodwill razors I've used i.e. the 160 and 175 are better shavers for closeness though with the 175 it is only marginally better while the 160 is in it's own class with a Bic blade. I don't have the 162 or 164 so I can't say how it stacks up. Next shave will be with a Ladas blade. Between the Bic and Ladas I can get a pretty good handle on how well the razor will perform across a wide range of blade types from dull to sharp.
I probably will let up 5 of them go once I get through with this. Once through this round then I narrow down which American Aristocrat I think is best.

This was the first time I used this setup. It worked very well, and the soap is a top performer. If you have the chance to use this cream from Portugal I say give it a shot!
Razor 1/6 - Gillette Aristocrat 1934 - 1935 variant Shave 2/2 - Ladas blade Not as close but a much better overall shave with only one small nick and no irritation with this blade. When compared against the New razors or Goodwills as stated on the first shave this razor is the worst performer with a Ladas blade. If ranked against those I would put it next to last with only the New long comb being lower in ranking. I like this razor's smoothness but that is about it from a performance standpoint.
Today’s A’crat is a beautiful 1966. Love the adjustables and this one is no exception. Soap of the day was Proraso Blue which is new to me but a wonderful cream just like all the other ones they make. Brush of the day the Simpson Colonel X2L. Lovely three pass shave and a great start to the week!
