Razor: Gillette Fat Boy Adjustable (G3) 1961 Blade: Personna 74 Tungsten Steel (9) Brush: Rubberset 400 Unmarked w/Omega Pro 10049. (@clint64) Soap: Nuàvia - Rossa A/S: Myrsol F/Extra Bowl: 3 D Printer White by Tom White (@twhite) An excellent shave today. Although it is raining and cool, so far it hasn't frozen yet. The Rubberset Unmarked I believe was the first of this type of knot interchangeability brushes. I don't think there was a number 1 or 2. The next one I have is #3 and a #4. To the best of my knowledge that is a complete set. This handle with the Omega Pro 10049 knot destroys shave soap. The thick rich lather was there in no time. This made for an outstanding 2 pass shave. Very near BBS.
April 8th Canadian Ball-end Old Type w Gillette 'The Spoiler' Proraso Green Stirling Finest/Maple handle Thayers Stirling Baker Street AS (m-bombed) As per my usual, an early morning shave with a lunchtime (or later) post. Next up for neglected razors and soaps is this Old Type and the Proraso Green, just in time for Menthol Monday. Is the OT my favourite vintage OC? Nope, but I did get a very smooth shave from it this morning. I was basically completely smooth, with no irritation. Doesn't get much better. Baker Street has made its way onto my favourite scents list, too. Have a great day, all!
Another beaut, Perry. Which do you think is your favourite SC scent? That Fine is another great choice for covering up Arko, Jim! Glad to hear the hospital visit wasn't more serious for sure, Charlie! Pine Sol? Only if they make a bathroom cleaner... Love, Love, Love those Rubbersets. Especially when they look as good as that, Joseph. Someday. Sweden! Awesome, Jim. Have a fun trip wrapped around the work stuff. What is the soap, Aaron, I cannot tell? I'm amazed that I haven't done that a few times myself with a Gillette slide, Clint. Fantastic photo as always at least. Stunning shot again, Doug. The Omega pro knot is one of the great, inexpensive treasures in wetshaving, imho.
Let me finish up this week and I will send you the D OC plate to tryout. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you, Jason! It's hard to pick a favorite in Soap Commander scents. Vision is certainly bright and fresh and invigorating. Fortitude is great. I really like Influence which is a tobacco, cherry, and black tea blend. Honor is okay. It's a little more simple than the others. Vision and Fortitude would be my top choices.
Day 94. First time using Wars. I've had it for a long time, just never got around to it. Good stuff, like I've come to expect from eastern Europe. Joe Bob says check it out. Today it was 3.5 passes with the Mockba, and very little with the Karve. I'm still not quite getting where I want to be with just the straight.
Thanks Terry. That's a difficult question to answer. Toothy looks aside the Yaqi DOC had quite the blade exposure. I like the blade feel of aggressive / efficient razors and I get that from this one. Something about the geometry still has me puzzled - It shaves like a mild razor with the corresponding small sweet spot. More uses with attention to angle of attack should make it give it's best service. That brush handle is another prototype Steve @Vlasta has tested. I think he had offered them on his Etsy page in a couple anodized color finishes. It's a solid hunk and a huge badger knot!
