Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick G1
    Brush: Artisan badger
Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street Blood on Steel
Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Blood on Steel aftershave

Easy shave with this setup. Blood on Steel is a wonderful tobacco scent fitting for Tuesday's theme. All worked together nicely and resulted in a fine shave.

    Have a great day!

Great shave, Jim. Safe travels, my friend.

We had an all-day layover in Newark last year. A lovely day. :)

Took a trip to Motown this morning. Aretha, Gladys, Marvin all said to say: "Hello".
    New soap today. Eufros Fougère.

Now, you all know that I am a big fan of Manuel's soaps. But I have a minuscule criticism :scared003:
They all smell eerily similar. All of them.
Now it's not a bad similarity, but nonetheless, they aren't distinctive enough for me.
The soap base rocks. Slick enough that the blade doesn't drag, albeit slightly ATG.
The Stirling 24mm has lovely gel tips and the fan knot works twice as large as its 24mm might suggest.
I have also come to the conclusion, that as a daily shaver, I have to expect that the edge of a
straight razor simply is too wide (as compared to a DE) to remove 24 hours' growth easily.
The thinness of a DE blade can really slice the root of the hair with more ease and less effort.
OK, so with this knowledge, why would anyone choose a straight over a DE :signs002:
    For me...nostalgia---pure and simple.
Also, there is the styling of straights. The satisfaction of honing; stropping, etc.
Does it take more effort? Mos Def!
    I think it's well-worth it. :happy088:
Myrsol Don Carlos 1972 was my AS choice, and a good one.
I need to acquire a good Fougère AS that isn't as pungent as my vintage Brut.
    Suggestions anyone :signs002:

I'd check out the local drug stores and supermarkets too. You might find some good deals on shaving soaps and creams. The antique shops might be fair game too. I don't think @mrchick has scoured Sweden in the last few months. :)

    Great picture and report, Joseph.
I get the nostalgic aspect you speak of. I feel that way about DE and SE razors. That could also be why I've never really warmed to synthetic brushes, not nostalgic enough for me.
I can't help with the fougere. I don't know what vintage Brut smells like.

I hope the cut heals quickly, Clint. I don't often perform the G-slide. I'd be tempted to to push it a little too much as well.

What a great set up. Your Karve OCD is a looker!

Just to be safe, Clint, I'd recommend not using a Parker SRX a month prior to the April and October tax deadlines. ;)
