So glad you saw the light Charlie. I have 2 electric skin burning contraptions here that collect dust and I keep all the various brands of cart razor handles as a reminder that I'm now older , wiser and richer since I made the switch to wet shaving.

I had been giving my wife grief about getting new bathroom rugs. We've got bathroom rugs. The last time I used them, they worked and looked OK to me. Why won't they work just as well at the new house? So I shared the news with her yesterday that I purchased 7 pucks of Tabac. Why 7? Well I got free shipping, that's why. Guess what? We're going to look for bathroom rugs this week...and a 75" TV.

Let's see...7 pucks of Tabac with free shipping should cost me about $1500. I hope they last a long time. :happy102:

Thanks Patrick. I actually have a skin burning contraption and some carts on hand, but don't tell anybody. I use the electric if I'm in a rush and absolutely need a shave. Likewise, I'll keep a cart in the shower for quick shaves and sometimes throw one in my carry-on luggage. 98% of the time, though, I enjoy using real shaving tools.

I too am definitely older...a G3...not sure about wiser and richer. :)

Thanks, Charlie. Would you say that the Proraso cream is superior to the soap?

Thats a touchy subject with women, rugs , curtains, paint color etc...you get my point. I compare it to poking a sleeping bear with a sharp stick skewered with donuts while wearing a greasy bacon necklace. Either way you're risking your life.

James, I haven't tried the Proraso soap. I'm sure someone who has used both will chime in soon.

Agreed! Home decoration is definitely her department. Likewise, she could care less how much I spend on shaving goodies. I had no doubt that we'd be getting new bathroom rugs from the git-go. It's all good. :)

Did you read the disclaimer at the end? As if you'd pay $99 to cover the costs of his April fools experiment... Just saying!

To make you feel like you got you're moneys worth, try standing on the bathroom rug while shaving with the Tabac with the tv on in the background .

I like them both the same as far as lather goes. Comes down to which you prefer, tube or tub.

Me neither. When hacking my face up with what ever multiblade carts were in the bathroom, the thought of splashing on alcohol never occurred to me.

There was a story my grandparents used to laugh about. The next door neighbor had retired. His wife asked for a new doorknob on the front main entrance. That honey-do project completed he thought he could go back to his recliner and TV. No such. It ended up being a $500 doorknob when the living room remodel was completed. Big bucks back in the late '50's.

I went from finishing a tube of C.O.Bigelow to starting a tub of Proraso Green. No difference in lather when applied to my face. If you are price conscience compare the cost per ounce and know the cream contains more water than the tubbed soap. The cream does lather up quicker.

    April Adjustable Williams Wednesday

Modern Williams with AquaVelva Ice Blue AS
JR #130 Cypress handle/ Maggard Sunrise synth
'59 E-4 Gillette 195 on 9, Gillette Silver Blue blade
Clubman Osage Rub Invigorating Splash AS
SOTD 04102019.gif Williams Wednesday of sorts since it's after midnight on a Tuesday. Some time back I mixed a puck of Williams with a generous portion of menthol aftershave and let it settle. It shaves just like modern Williams, but a slight menthol chill. With my understanding of the W soap and it's peculiar lathering qualities I tried adding a little more menthol tonight. Chug chug for a bit of moisture into the old Old Spice mug. Hit it with the slightly damp synth knot and stirred until I felt it was well and truly loaded. Usually at this point I'd go to a shave bowl and attempt a creamy glossy lather. Not going to try with the W. Just paint it on, maybe a drizzle of water across the knot to reduce the paste into foam. Yup, there it was. Pass with the Fat Boy, relather, repeat. Nice cooling action! Plenty of slickness and if I moved the razor fast enough I could still see where I'd painted on the soap. Three passes, the usual just under the jaw line buffing, DFS or better with no errors. After I rinsed my tools off I applied a post shave splash of The Rub and called it done.
    Good Shaves Y'all!
