I am definitely going to try the supermarket next to the hotel. I haven't see a drug store just yet, but if I do, I will check it out as well. I haven't seen anything that resembles an antique store.

Salsa Bowl / Timeless bowl scuttle
    Cremo Shave Cream -Reserve Blend
    Karve – 3.25-inch Handle, SB-E
    Astra SP
    Cremo Shave Balm -Reserve Blend
    Cremo Solid Cologne -Reserve Blend

Great shave this morning and I almost caught the baby. I need to get the “E” plate dialed in and I can see the baby coming my way in the near future.

I was a little apprehensive with the Cremo shave cream but it did surprise me. It is a brushless shave cream but I lathered it up in a bowl. This stuff is slick and does a great job. It is not as luxurious as Stirling or Murphy and McNeil but it is a keeper.

The Karve “E” plate definitely has more “bite” than the “C” plate but it is manageable. There is blade feel and the alum was warm this morning but not uncomfortably warm. This is going to be a great plate when I get it dialed it. It is a step above the 6 plate on the Rockwell.

I will use Stirling soap Friday morning and see how the shave compares to the Cremo shave.

Finished up with the Cremo shave balm and the solid cologne. The solid cologne is interesting. This is my first time using a solid cologne and at first I did not like the fact that it was a solid but you can stick it in your pocket and refresh your cologne during the day.

The Reserve Blend has a top note of spiced citrus, middle note is bourbon and the base is oak vetiver. Oh yeah it does smell a lot better than Arko!

Y’all have a great hump day and shave on!

Post Care: Stirling Unscented Witch Hazel, Alum
Aftershave: Dr John's Flowers in the Dark
Fragrance: Dr John's Flowers in the Dark

Well I'm continuing narrowing down my den so I'm trying to come up with the best lavender scented soap to keep. Today it was Mike's vs Dr John's. Off the puck I prefer the scent of Dr John's however Mike's scent improves once lathered. Speaking of lather I found that Mike's created a thicker lather with slightly more staying power. I applied the Dr John's on the right side of my face and the Mike's on the left. Both had about the same slickness, glide and cushion but both were just average; not the worst I've tired but no where near top tier. In the end the alum told the tale, I had equal burn on both sides of my face. Considering both had relatively equal performance scent is going to be the deciding factor in picking a winner here. I greatly prefer the scent from the Dr John's. The next round I will do a shave off between the Dr John's and my Martin de Candre Original to determine which I'm keeping.
For those following along I did a follow up shave comparing my Saponificio Varesino Felce Aromatica vs Route 66 Twisted Tweed. In the end the Saponificio Varesino is simply a better soap. It has superior glide, cushion and post shave feel. Have a great day folks!
