So there is a listing on that auction site for a Gillette Milord Rocket. Is this a real deal or a unscrupulous seller taking advantage of uninformed buyers.

    upload_2019-4-9_12-30-41.png

His description states "This is an extremely rare razor produce for one day December 1949 evidently a Gillette experiment..... only 19 known to exist a real collector's item serious buyers only. Razor and case in excellent condition." Now I have looked through several of my Gillette resources but cannot find a citation to back it up anywhere. Anyone know for sure?

Please note. There is no way I would pay that much for any rocket even if it is verified.

Looks like an American case with a gold rocket.

    If it's made in America it's a US Rocket made in 1949 / 1950

    BTW those are rare.

    Not worth $600 IMHO.

I looked for 30 minutes at Mr-Razor and missed that completely.

More in line with what I was thinking.

Completely my opinion. I would buy the $2300 replated bottom dial fatboy before a questionable gold super speed. (Not buying the fatboy either)

I’ve been looking at an Ambassador adjustable from Razor Emporium, but I’m just too cheap.

I looked at it, looked again, thought about it, and looked some more. Then I went review hunting and bought one. It is shipping today if a previous email is to be believed. Shortly after buying it several Gibbs adjustable razors came up for sale which I have so far fought the urge to buy after plopping down what I did for the REX.

Oh that Greg Wagner is such a character. It’s my opinion that this set is not original and something he put together. I do believe that the razor is the American rocket but the whole rocket milord thing is not genuine. That listing has been going for about a year now. He’s been banned from a lot of groups. I wouldn’t trust that dude for anything.

He use to be a member here. From my understanding he makes “custom” brushes too. Lol “custom” being that he finds anything he can glue a knot in and BAM what do you know, a “custom” brush. I’ll give him credit, he is resourceful. He even has Paul H the YouTuber giving him shout outs every time he uses a brush the Greg Wagner sends him.

The Gibs razor, as neat as it is ... takes proprietary blades (no longer made) and though you can modify normal blades to work, I'm not fooling around with that. I think you made a nice choice with the Ambassador! BTW don't forget the case for it; it looks amazing!

$100 for a case that Edwin Jagger sells for $40? Um, No.

I just had to. I asked him what documentation he had on the razor as it looked like a US Rocket.

It looks like a US-Rocket. I don´t know how much Gillette has made, but I think there are much more than only 19. The price of $600 is very crazy! And maybe the case is wrong: the seller shows him in a 46/47 case. Here is my set:

Now this guy is telling me they were only made in December of 1949, but used the older case. He says to contact Razor Emporium in Arizona speak to Matt Pisarcik as he knows about the Rocket Milord. But he says getting documentation on it is impossible. He really wants to sell it badly.
