    Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    EDRIO #47 Ming Shi 2000s
    Astra SP (2)
    Paladin Winston (26mm, Frigate Class)
    Wilkinson Sword shave sick
    Florida Water AS

As a test to backup the statements that I've recently made about the Maggard SHD knot being better then my Paladins I decided to use the Paladin Winston this morning for a back to back comparison with my Maggard SHD equipped WWB brush. And to keep the comparison equal I did a face lather with a stick applied soap. So I applied a nice thick coating of soap from the shave sick and squeezed the water out of the brush and went to work. The first thing that I noticed with the Paladin is that this knot is scritchy, and not just a little scritchy either. It felt like I was lathering with a pure badger knot and not a higher end finest. Now I would have never noticed this because I usually bowl lather but this was an eye opening experience. Both knots had good backbone. The Paladin had better flow through and it seemed like the Maggard SHD was a bit of a lather hog, this is easily overcome by loading more soap which doesn't really bother me. I will need to do a full face lather with my Paladin Chief to see if that knot has any scritch in it. So, after this comparison I still stand by statement that the Maggard SHD knot is better then my Paladins (at least the Winston). On to the rest of the story (shave report). Easy three pass BBS shave out of the Futur clone set on 4. Finished with some Florida Water for some good citrus stank. Have a great day my friends!

    Hump day!

Great 'Rick Pic'! You soaked your puck in a decent splash? Interestingly, amongst all the enabling that happens on this thread that has caused me to make purchases, the Williams enablers have had no influence on me yet. That is probably to do with the fact that even those who are avowed fanboys of it say things like 'The Old stuff was better', or 'I worked exceptionally hard and got a decent lather' or 'PM me and I will show you a video on how to lather it' or even 'what a good lather with virtually no scent'. I'll stick with Palmolive for my mass produced option.:)
Aha! Another example to add to my Williams 'backhanded compliment list'- I achieved a serviceable lather for passes two and three
    Wonderful photo though, Jim!
Your enabling is working again, Clint. Beautiful photo.
I know there are lots of things I miss out on living in a town of 25,000, but having an hour long commute is not one of them. I think it takes me about 7 minutes to get to work, and I am thankful for that.
Do you have the D plate as well, Danny, or did you go right from the C to the E? I think a Karve order is fairly imminent.
Fantastic photo and summary, Ben. Agree 100% on the Felce Aromatica. Wonderful product with an intoxicating scent.
Well, apparently your CT could have also been 'Sarcastic dude with dry sense of humour'...:eatdrink047:

Other that the finish and materials they are the same. The 6S is stainless (some kind of molding process) and the 6C is zamak. The heads are the same as far as the gaps and shave the same. Some people prefer the slickness of the chrome over the bead blasted finish on the 6S. I cannot till a difference in the shaves.

Hump day! Awesome pics, Andrew. I don't own one of those beautiful Paladins, but there are obviously many examples of mid or lower priced knots punching waaaay above their weight class (Large Omegas, Stirling Finest, TGN Finest come to mind).

When I got my Karve it came with the B & C plates. I noticed a member of TSD had a E plate for sale and I purchased his. I did skip the D plate. I will probably add a OC-D to the mix in the future.

That's the WildWest Brushworks. Derek made it and another like it custom for me, 1 for me and 1 for part of my brothers wedding gift. We're both big Ohio State fans and the handles are scarlet and grey. It's a beautiful brush. I had him set a Boss knot in it, it's nice but a little too soft for my taste so it's not overtaking the B-400 anytime soon but it's my second favorite brush.

I know this video and technique is well-known, and certainly has it fans, but to me it is really about a 2 minute load. Building the lather on the puck is the video's really informative piece around technique options, but I have always wondered about the volume of product he loads. I am no soap miser, and load the heck out of soap every morning (and like the brush owes me money) but cannot really wrap my mind around how much he loads. I've tried this technique a few times over the past few years, and do use it when breaking in new brushes, but would have to really be talked into the need to load for this long. It didn't make a significant difference for me, to be honest. If you did that with a CH2 Synth you might drown in the lather...;)

    HUMPDAY!!!

    Awesome photo of Declan, Andrew!
The SHD is an excellent knot. It and the Grizzly Bay 2band are my favorite knots as of now. They both have wonderful gel tips. I have nothing else with tips that compare. I don't have any of the high end knots.
