  4. Arko Adjustable April

    April 10

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy(9)
    Blade - rapira-stainless.jpg (1)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - The Canuck
    Post - Alum

Back to Gillette for the classic American razor - the Fatboy. Staying with Russian steel, a blade I don't use much - the red and blue Rapira Super Stainless, or Chrome blade. Nothing wrong with it at all. Great Russian steel, just doesn't trip my trigger like the Voskhod, Sharp Star or even its close cousin the Super Stainless in pink black and blue. Tenth day in a row for Arko - can I do Arko April or what?! The Canuck for the great synthetic fan knot. I love the SynBad from apshaveco.com .

Three passes just because it was such a great shave in progress and the baby is at hand. Nothing to say about this one but how great it was. So, I'll just say it was great. Besides, I'm tired and have another Doctor to see tomorrow. This is my primary guy who will steal some blood, tell me my sugar is still too high, and we'll see if there's anything else to be done about that. Actually, in a couple of weeks my new insurance will kick in and I will be able to get more aggressive with some of the meds he wants me on. Tell me how this works - you leave corporate America that provides you with insurance - at a high cost and that pays for nothing - and you go out and end up with insurance that is far better and half the cost. Not the way it used to work! But I like it! Have a great Thursday!

  5. Detour Shave

    10 April, MMXIX A.D.

Fatip and Sharp Star, because they were in my dopp bag. Foam. Sharp edge wins the day. Proraso Green finish. Don't drink or carouse, so back in my suite.

Other than that...nothing is quiet in NOLA.

Have a great evening and a pleasant Friday!

    :)
  6. Thank you very much!

  7. Thanks for that, Keith. I kind of tried that, with no blade contact. Definitely calls for some practice with a shavette with no blade. Now I have an excuse to buy one.
  8. I hope your doctor's visit goes well and I admire a man that's loves Arko. Take care.
  9. You ran away from the second bomb cyclone. Smart man.
  10. Thank you Andrew.

Today was the 15th use of the feather, and somehow this things still performing absolutely flawlessly. Fantastic blade, and I'm starting to see that theyre worth the extra cost if you're able to get so much extra use out of it. As usual the Col Conk lathered perfectly and provided plenty of slickness. BBS after three passes, two WTG and one ATG. Felt weird not using Dave's menthol aftershave today!

Razor: gillette super speed flare tip(US)
    Blade: feather hi-stainless (15)
    Soap: Col Conk lime
    Brush: dischem synthetic

  15. Nice shave!

I'm gonna get me some of that Col. Conk Lime and it is totally your fault.
  16. Lol, its great stuff, definitely super super slick, and it lathers beautifully. If you live in the US definitely one of the best soaps especially if you're on a budget. Here the equivalent would be the reitzer, but im sending a few of those in a PIF to a friend in Canada, and I'll put in a few extra for him to send off to the US for you guys to try.

  17. A very nice gesture for sure.
Is the Brut you use a current mfg. in your location? If I remember, you are in South Africa?
  18. cool set up and pic sir..
  19. Yep, we can still buy these bottles for dirt cheap, about five dollars a bottle, its actually the cheapest aftershave available here. If it wasnt for the no aftershave/flammable liquids policy with parcels, id send some of those too.
