Now I'm confused...Is this a Private Members Only Hang? Or is it an open platform?

  14. Always open! Most pertinent to shavers that use hard puck or vintage soaps. The term "Bloom" seems to upset some, but the idea is about softening the surface of a soap to make it easy to load. Some like to dribble a little water on, take a shower, and their soap is easy to load for the post shower shave. Others deny that they wet their soap, but if you attack a dry puck with a wet brush it amounts to the same thing - bristles, soap, & water ready to apply to the beard.

Personally I push the Bloomers Agenda to encourage folks to use more product. For new wet shavers that's the biggest issue about learning to make lather. Soap is cheap. Even expensive soap is cheap when you look at how much it takes to make enough to shave.

  15. Not the same at all. Letting the soap soak in water is much different. However........@Primotenore has pointed out that this is a club. I like him so will bow out.

  16. I'm going to post this here since topics move rapidly other places this topic comes up.

I believe there are those who do not have their man cards sufficiently punched up enough to feel comfortable with a technical term such as blooming. Their minds and speech will quickly race to conjured images of puffy women's underwear, flowers, fried onions or anything that they can use to fill in on their shortcomings and degrade others who don't have identity issues.

Blooming of a soap with water is nothing more than a catalyst used to accelerate the process for which this medium was created, and to allow fragrances to release. The term blooming has been used for years in the fields of coatings and engineered materials to describe the changes taking place from within a substance to intentionally alter the surface for a given purpose such as appearance, protection, slip, hardness, etc.

I don't think the owners of the other more limited shave forums who we occasionally allow in to see how the free thinkers live can read my posts, but you can be sure the reaction to my factual statement would have something to do with clutches, wheels, soup or some other equally ridiculous analogy.

Max Headroom encourages the free thinkers of the world to experiment with whatever method of introduction of water to YOUR SOAP that makes you happy.

You are allowed to be free from the shackles of the narrow minded.

    Be well.
