I'm almost ready to pull out the blue ufo for a shave, hope i like it. I sure liked the original formula
Dunno. It’s been a while since I got it, and I don’t remember anymore. When I started out, I prized softness over backbone. Now, as long as there’s no scritch, I prefer backbone, density, and softness . Two band badgers are my sweet spot.
@Frijolero Congratulations on seeing the process through! You're absolutely right about 100 being a checkpoint. I recommend the 100 shaves to anyone serious about learning SR, feeling that such a refined skill really does take about 100 attempts to get a true feel for the process. My 250th open blade shave was indeed far better than my hundredth, and I very much enjoyed reading your summary.
The handle is extremely ergonomic too. It’s a nice soft knot too; I’ve just just come to prefer more backbone in my knots. I’ve got another horsehair brush I’ll be re-auditioning soon. We’ll see how it fares.
I find huge variation in badgers. Most 3 bands don’t do it for me. Two band is the stuff! I found this particular horsehair to be similar to a soft three band badger.
April 14 Good evening, gents! I just finished shaving my 28 hour stubble. I decided to use my Dovo shavette with the Personna hairshaper blade for the 2nd consecutive day. Moreover, I also used my Omega Pro 49, consecutively. Hey, why not catch lightning in a bottle one more time? From my previous shave, I changed my Stirling soap to Coconut and Lime. This shave went very well! I did my usual 2 pass and minor touchups to get a great BBS shave without any mishaps. I finished with Stirling Coconut and Lime AS. This Coconut and Lime scent is really nice and refreshing without being overpowering. This was another enjoyable, relaxing and most of all satisfying shave. I truly believe that I am getting consistent great shaves is that I know my beard map very well and that I am deliberate with my blade strokes. With prep and shaving, It took less than 20 minutes. I am really digging my shaves! Result: Grade 98 = A + You guys have a great evening!
