A little bit of autopilot with today's posting. Past 72 hours....21 hours of driving inside of 40 hours Fri/Sat to travel and honor Mom with her services and resting place in Bogalusa, LA. All of this with 5 people (including my 82 yo Dad) and 3 dogs from North TX. Lots of great memories rolling through Bogalusa, visiting places I hadn't seen since staying at my grandparents house in the 70s/80s/90s. Back 12:55am Sunday. Slept a LOT yesterday. Side note....Saturday morning (day of Mom's service) I ended up with my unused (since Dec 2018) Schick 5 blade thingy. Instant irritation on my neck, the reason I originally researched alternatives and started wet shaving.

Today's shave was my typical 2 pass DFS, with a little extra buffing on right lower neck. The Slim on setting 9 almost seems like a cartridge razor experience in that it just works without a lot of brain power needed. Second use of the Jarayuh brush...it's awesome. The synthetic knot is great, and love the wood used. Arko is likely one of the quickest easiest soaps to lather, but the fragrance is just OK. GFT Sandalwood to finish it off.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Right-it all begins with the Big W. By the way, don't get me wrong-I didn't think Upstate was from Buffalo across the NY-Canada border going east :).

    Boellis Panama 1924~~Paladin PK-47 (2CSLD4)~~dubl duck Goldedge
    SR #62

Eschewing tradition, I chose the Italian Almond/Cherry (read: Marzipan) Boellis Panama 1924.
This once very soft croap has hardened significantly. In a few more years, it will have reached
    triple-milled territory. ;)
So, a light "Bloom" was in order...
Lather was produced today with my Paladin PK-47. Now, I used to be a huge Paladin fan.

I don't know why, but they aren't at the top of my list anymore. But this PK-47 is
OUTSTANDING. Wall of hair. Furry, soft tennis ball in density. The Faux Tortoise shell handle,
except for the almost unreadable etching, is truly a lovely work of art.
The knot dates back about 3+ years and was one of Ken's best offerings.
The soap lathered well; became slick 'n shiny after incorporating sufficient H2O.
It's official. The dubl duck is my best straight. I also want to acknowledge the poster,
and I think it was @Trigger and then confirmed by @Bama Samurai that short, deliberate strokes
work the best with straights. Well, that's exactly how I approached today's shave and if I hadn't
missed the very tip of my chin, this would have been the closest I have come to a true BBS

since moving over to the Dark Side. So, thank you gentlemen. If it was someone else who said that,
please accept my apologies for not mentioning you.
    Products not shown:
    Thayer's Medicated.
    Stirling Glacial Unscented ASB.
Finished the shave with Boellis Panama 1924 EdT.

For what it's worth, this EdT bears NO resemblance to the soap. Still a lovely finish to an almost perfect shave.

A early morning shave with a late morning post. I’ve been on a DE kick lately and wanted to get back to a SE razor so the Supply Co got the duty. The mixed knot of the SOC is a face lathering dream and even more so with the wonderful citrus scent of Shiloh. Three passes and touch ups ended with a near perfect shave. I really can’t ask for much better on a Monday morning. I hope everyone has a great day.

Thank you for the acknowledgement, Joseph! I find that you get a smoother shave with short, deliberate strokes. There is a greater chance of injury using long strokes because the tendency of adding more pressure is greater. Also, you can buffer short strokes which also adds to the smoothness to the shave.
