    SOTD:
Decided to go with a night shave because i have to get up early tomorrow, I didnt feel like doing a shave with my most agressive razor at four in the morning lol.

As always an absolutely finomial shave from the arko as well as the Fatip, truly an amazing razor when paired with a feather as long as you apply absolutely 0 pressure!!!

The maca root balm worked amazingly as it usually does, truly amazing stuff especially in cold weather!

    Razor: fatip piccolo
    Blade: feather hi-stainless (18)
    Soap: arko shave stick
    Brush: dischem synthetic
Aftershave balm: the body shop maca root razor relief balm.

Now is the time I'm experimenting to see what "cold-weather" soaps I might be able to manage with during the spring, and maybe summer. I think Chiseled Face will work, with its comfortable menthol. The other hopefuls-Central Texas Soaps, The Soap Exhange(I'd like to see if the clay in these cools them down enough to a comfort level), and Stoylin Sandpiper.

    Day 101.

I broke out the Proraso for menthol Monday. I'm still not brave enough to try a straight razor shave with a Glacial. Next month, I'll probably give the straights a pause so I can play with some other toys that I have never used. An Autostrop, Enders, Durham Duplex, and maybe even a Rolls Razor. Then the Glacials will get some long overdue love.
Don't take that to mean that I'm "settling" for Proraso. Not the case at all. I like Proraso a lot, especially the aftershave splash. (Does it show?) I will always have it around.
I swapped out the Mockba for the Dovo Best today. Four passes, then the Karve to finish the base of the neck. A first rate shave.

The only thing I've seen is that it could have started due to renovation work that was going on.

Oh ok....I'm interested in this idea of renovatins such a famous place, unless it was felt that some parts would fall apart otherwise. More details will come up, I'm sure.

Quick SOTD report for today... basically a repeat of yesterday with the '48-'49 Aristocrat and 7 o'Clock Indian Green. Very satisfying.

    Toooooo funny.

Never really thought about it. Just smells like flowery soap to me. I've probably accumulated a dozen or so creams/soaps. Haven't counted. There's a couple that, to me, have no scent...and I've not even tried yet. Those, I guess, are the poor fragrance. I'll get back on this.....

Good afternoon/evening, gents! I’ve been watching from the sidelines again this month. Right now I’m lagging about 600 posts behind - and for me lately, isn’t too awful. Lots going on in the thread this month and tons of great shaves and photos. Keep up the great work!

100 Days with a Parker SRX Shavette

My main takeaways from this journey:

It’s awkward as hell in the beginning. It becomes less so each day.
The sooner you train yourself to use your off-hand, the better.
Respect is key. The razor owes you nothing and will punish you quickly.
    Patience is a requirement.
If there was ever a time to watch your angle and pressure, it’s while using a shavette.
It’s far more rewarding than I ever imagined.
Blade selection matters very little. For real.
Words such as “quick” and “fast” don’t belong in the same sentence as the word “shavette”.
After 100 shaves, I’m at least competent. I’m a long way from Yoda status. The shaves have been fantastic more often than not. Some days the force isn’t with you.

I’m sure that I could rattle off more, but that’s the gist of it. Sound about right, Chris @Bama Samurai ?

It’s been a fun journey with the shavette. I’m far from done using it. It’ll stay in my rotation - which means it’ll get used when I feel like using it - just like everything else I shave with. I have no such thing as a fixed rotation schedule. Probably at least a time or two each week, though.

Of the blades I’ve run through the Parker (VDH, Astra S/P, GSB, Derby, Shark, Feather, Big Ben - and possibly a few I forgot - the only one that wasn’t pleasant is the Big Ben. They were better in the Parker than a DE - not by leaps and bounds - but better.
Even the VDH Ice Tempered blades, that I thought sucked in a DE razor are just fine in a shavette.
Think that a Derby isn’t sharp enough? Try ‘em in a shavette.
Think Feathers are rough? Try ‘em in a shavette.

I’ll be fun to run through the other razors in the den again, starting with the Supply tomorrow morning. More than anything, it’ll be interesting to see what has been learned from using the shavette.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday.

    EDRIO #49 Schick Injector G1
A previously used blade (Chick maybe)

Van Yulay "Spicy Bomber" soap and AS

The theme for EDRIO this week is Schick G your injectors. And what better way to start then with my very first Injector, the venerable G1. Made a beautiful super goop lather out of the Van Yulay Spicy Bomber soap. The razor had a blade in it from probably two years ago, it was still sharp and smooth. Post shave with the Spicy Bomber AS left my skin feeling great and smelling good too! Have a great day my friends!
