Our local town is talking about going up to 10 percent sales tax. :angry019::angry019::angry021:

No, not at all. I started out straight shaving with the Dovo shavette. I was fortunate that I adapted to it very quickly so that at shave 16, I was able to shave my head without mirrors. At that point, I decided that I shouldn't have trouble with straights based on reviews saying shavettes are more unforgiving. As they say, the rest is history. I believe that you will have a similar experience when you transition to traditional straights.

I guess there are going to be plenty of angry townfolk at the upcoming town hall session.

Very nice, Perry. I remember when eBarbershop had those O clones for sale. I didn't jump at it, but I realize that we never seem to see the original Os in the wild, either. Sounds like a good shaver.
Love everything about this, Jim. My favourite razor, coupled with that super looking lemon drop handle, with an excellent photo and write up. Top shelf for sure.
A NEW LC and Palmolive? Wow, 2 more faves, Jim.
Yes, keeping up these days is a tough task!
Beautiful, Clint. Intended or not, it is really cool how those leaves resemble ladybugs (my mind is a terrible place to be).
Awesome, Charlie! What a beautiful house you are having built.
Love the tag on that Aftershave, Blair! Very cool.
More Palmolive love! If you like that cream, Danny, I would recommend the Menthol version. Just awesome.
Looking forward to your new design, Danny! It is addictive, isn't it?

    AoS Sandalwood (Tallow)~~Mondial 26mm~~1941 Ranger Tech~~Personna 74
Took a break from the straights to revisit my '41 Ranger Tech.
This was probably my worst shave in a long time. The Personna 74 was dull and I just muddled through it,
not bothering to even change the blade.
Too bad, because everything else was first-rate.
Grated a new puck of AoS Sandalwood, tallow naturally, and was it ever wonderful.
The soap still smells terrific and everyone knows what great lather it makes.

The Mondial was superb and while the Ranger Tech was hampered with a crummy blade,
it is always a treat to use.
Post-shave was also lovely. The vintage AoS gel and balm are da bomb.

Only 16 shaves in, and you were able to shave your head without mirrors? That's impressive, sir!
I am wanting to give the traditional razors a run, yet - for whatever reason, I'm not in a big hurry. Normally when I want something, or to do something, I want it now. Maybe the hesitiation is mostly due to the undecidedness of honing. It's not out of fear. As you said, after using a shavette, the traditional straights should be straightforward and every bit as natural - if not more so.
The simple fact that I even own and plan on using a traditional straight is a testimony to the 30 DC. When I got started with traditional wet shaving with a DE, I never considered that one day I'd use an open blade at all. And, had I left the auction after scoring some DE and injector razors, and not picked up the lot of straights, I still might not be considering it.
Then there are all the SOTD photos of beautiful straights to tempt. It's almost tough to not consider at least giving it a try. ;)

Wonderful shave and photo Joseph. Sorry a dull blade let down an otherwise fantastic shave.
