  4. I'm sure you've already gotten a number of replies, however I'll throw in my thoughts on the Karve. They're incredibly well made. Excellent tolerances and craftsmanship. While they aren't cheap, they're almost a steal at their price point. They are a great way to get into a higher end razor without paying a premium. Add in the variety of baseplates available, you can tailor it to your liking. Hands down - it's my favorite DE of those I have. Smooth, efficient and well balanced.
I've heard nothing but good about Blackland's offerings as well - and there's a good chance that one (or two) will end up getting a home here someday. And, no doubt the Timeless Razors are beautiful. They are a touch pricey, especially when you make a few configuration changes. Good luck on your decision making!
  5. That's a wonderful shave, Gary. It's always fun to see what old beauty you select for your shave. Your models are always cool to see as well. I use this '66 Jaguar E-Type (probably my favorite all time car) for my computer wallpaper:

  8. that is a beauty.. the volvo dealership i worked at in the 90s had one just like that. it was the owners car and he stored it in the shop. i kept it running and roadtested it a lot as it sat around most of the time.. finicky carbs..fun to drive..

  12. Awesome story, Gary. I have never driven a Jag, but would love to someday. My Dad's friend had a gold '67 E-Type convertible with dark interior that he purchased new. It was stunning, and I've loved them ever since that time.

  13. Thanks for the info.
  14. The Parker is just sooooo enjoyable to use. It will get plenty of runtime. Not that it will cause a fella to retire any later by using Feathers in it, it's hard to justify using them in a shavette when there's no difference in feel or performance. Astras or Derby fit the bill nicely. The equivalent of 200 blades for less than a ten-spot...tough to beat.

An intervention! Yeah! That's the ticket!
A drum of Clubman along with a Parker SRX is EXACTLY what he needs. His bride really should get the opportunity to not only see him shaving with a shavette, but have another shot at smelling that manly barbershop scent - splashed on with reckless abandon. She'd be all over him - much like the Hai Karate commercials. :D
