I recived my injector blades from Andrew yesterday, so I am going to shave with my eversharp hydromatic
Today (Schick I2) will post pictures and report.
I also dated the Milord razor i got for my birthday, it is a 47 with the pre war handle (notched for the blade case but still has the smooth band above the tto.
I cleaned up some of my other razors I recived for my b day and was pleased to find the cruddy looking 40s ss I got for the case cleaned up to almost original! Just a little stuborn white oxidation on the smooth neck.

My b day razors, i just realized I never posted licks of 'em all. I also got a gem 1912 bit one of the blade stopps is broke off so It is un useable. I now know wnt to look for with that particular defect. I hope I may be able to solder something to it to make it useable again but as of now I have no time for that stuff.[IMG]

Nice shave, Keith. I'm a Tabac fan as well.

The granule in shave soap discussion has been interesting. It's more likely that commercial shave soaps like Tabac that have been around for decades will be more consistent than small-batch artisan soaps. Commercial manufacturers have their manufacturing processes dialed-in (automated), and they are constantly monitoring key quality parameters in a laboratory setting. If a batch of product goes out of spec, they have processes in place to quarantine the material to keep it off the shelves, determine what caused the problem, and hopefully prevent it in the future. No manufacturer is perfect...they all have problems...but ideally the end users never get impacted. The downsides for some of these manufacturers are their limited offerings, the added ingredients (all those chemicals :)), and the disdain, by some people, of supporting big business.

This is not a knock against the artisans. Some make excellent products, such as Mike's Natural Soaps. Some have the knowledge and skill to make a great product, but they don't have the same ability to detect inconsistencies. For example, artisans likely don't have big money to invest in quality control labs, trained inspectors, and the like. For this reason, the variability of artisan soaps (even the ones with excellent reputations) will be greater than commercial soaps. Great artisans have mastered the art of soap making, they offer a wide selection of scents, their packaging is unique, and their ingredients list seems more wholesome. And it's cool to support the small guy and use a small-batch product. For that reason, I tend to stick with the established artisans that have solid reputations for producing great soaps. With a few exceptions, I've been disappointed when I've blind tested a few different soaps from upstart artisans.

It's frustrating when a soap (or any product for that matter) makes it to the market with a known problem that could have been easily detected...granules. I pay attention to reviews and steer clear of those vendors...commercial or artisan.

    04/26/19

    Brass Handle Synthetic Shaving Brush
Salsa Bowl / Timeless bowl scuttle
    Cremo Shave Cream -Reserve Blend
    Karve – 3.25-inch Handle, SB-E
    Astra SP
    Cremo Shave Balm -Reserve Blend
    Cremo Solid Cologne -Reserve Blend

Excellent shave followed by an excellent cup of Café Bustelo.

This would have been a near perfect shave except for one small weeper. The Cremo shave cream is interesting to say the least. It is hard to lather up and a bowl and I know it is meant to be applied by rubbing in onto the face. I put some in the salsa bowl and whipped up a small lather and applied it to my face. The Cremo is not thick like traditional shave soap but it is very slick and it works great. You just can not get that uber lather out of it but is does work. It is just a different experience.

The Karve with the “E” plate, well nothing else needs to be said other than it is awesome.

Finished up with the Cremo shave balm and the solid cologne

    Y’all have a great Friday!
