Randy, is that 6/8 the one you picked up on the SRD closeout? If so, Lyn would probably have honed it. Hope you like it.
I got a 5/8 best. Great edge IMO. Too bad the scales crumbled when I spritzed isopropyl alcohol on them to remove the oil.
What kind of edge is on your Bismarck custom?

Yes. I got a great deal on it. That one and the custom Bismarck are the only two razors I’ve bought new. I’m not sure what kind of edge @Pete123 put on it. He’s putting a new gloss finish on it as we speak, so I’ll have to ask him.

In other news, After 20 strops each today, the JNAT edge felt a bit less rough than the Synth. My imagination? Maybe. Maybe not. Time will tell. I won’t check in again on this experiment for a while, but I didn’t want to just have “no difference” hang out there when there may well be differences that I can notice.

Nice one pass shave this morning. I know nothing about this razor, nothing on the tang. Double jimped, seem well made and took a nice edge. Have a good one.

A fantastic shave, from a German Made razor. I had a smooth 2 pass shave, that left me BDBS. Great blade, from a great maker.

    Razor- FW Engels "Silver Steel".
    Brush- JR#262, WD Silvertip
    Soap- TOBS Eton College
Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy. Viking Horn Decanter.

I actually like a synthetic edge when it is done well. I have enjoyed some great edges from a Shapton Glass 16k and Gokyumo 20k. The razor I just posted was refreshed with a Shapton Glass 16k and it is just velvety smooth with a wickedly sharp edge. I am not honemeister so I am going to stick with my synthetic rocks, I find they are easier to use.

I have also had wonderful edges from natural stones, I did not hone any of them.

There are allot of ways to get a great edge, likely the skill of the honer is more important the finishing stone.

Och Aye the Noo...Bang On..Whilst I Prefer a Natural Edge..I Honed & Enjoyed Many a Synthetic Edge..Skills are the Most Important Thing..Not the Finisher..High End Naturals are Not Easy to Find & Can Cost a Fortune in the USA in Particular..:happy088:

This artisan was on my “I Wish” list, but figured I was out of luck when he stopped making razors in 2016 (though he started back up in 2018).

Once @vitor.rodrigues.branco posted the couple he had, it got the juices flowing again... thank you!
Long story short, the stars aligned and I got lucky. Very nice razor and scales!
    Enjoy your shave!
