What Do I Have? Estate Sale Find!

I picked this up at an estate sale this morning. It's a Gillette, but I am not into the older stuff. The serial # looks like F639404. It looks like they tried to clean it up a bit, but they did not do it very well. Any ideas on what I have?

 

Not sure but I have that same box; got it in a lot with another razor in it. At least now I know what it went with.

That sure does look like it, but there is no writing, of any kind, anywhere on the case.

 

Does anyone one have a similar razor?

Are they good shavers?

 

I have two and they are very nice shavers. No writing could mean later than 1917 by a year or two.

i have a single ring, not as nice as yours
they are little on the aggressive side for me
feels different from old style
many will disagree but i put a tiny dab of grease on the threads
im jealous of your find, i've yet to find one in the wild

BTW, do you, or does anyone know why they are called "Single Ring"?

 

The single ring on the collar, right below the head.
