The new deo smells nothing like Shulton. What did the old round stick smell like? Anyone remember?

Every now and then I see the vintage round stick on eBay, not dried it out, at reasonable prices. Sometimes I'm tempted to try it. If I knew it smelled like Shulton, I would.

Vintage Old Spice. I used it and liked it.

I don't remember what it smelled like, but I do know the stick was good for starting fires.

If only OS would release true original OS deo, instead of these absurd hipster flavors like Gorillathunder or Poodlefist. Of course that would only serve to remind everyone that current OS a/s is bad.

    Pleasant smelling fires, I trust?

i understand why old spice started selling gorilla thunder and poodlefist to keep the corporate coffers flush with cash, but the original old spice recipe should have been kept and maintained for its loyal fans..

It smelled like true old spice to me. Like the AS. There was also brut and english leather deos. All burned me so bad I could not use them. Never figured out why.

I had that reaction to the current OS.

I used the current Brut round stick and occasionally get burn. You get a heck of a boozy blast from it right off, which suggests there's a high alcohol content.

I was given one of the new sets with body wash body spray and deo. It all works ok if you can live with the scent.

Yup. I just quit trying. Arm and hammer for me.

@wchnu is right @gorgo2 . Arm and Hammer deo isn't bad. As long as you don't stink who cares? Isn't that what cologne and as is for?

He commented on the burn, I offered a possible explanation for it but whatever.

I was out the other day and opened the round deo in the store and it reminded me of the old stick I used in the 80s (citrus opening then spice?), more so than the current AS compared to the original. The AS is very watered down.

I agree Gary....what we have now is New Spice. Seems simple enough for P&G to insert "New" over "Old", I'd say.

Back in the late 70's & early 80's the OS stick literally took the skin out of my pits. I like the scent of OS, but the tears in my eyes over ruled the desire to use it.
