I finished off the month with some of my favorite hardware and software. The "Tres Amigos" brush loaded and lathered the MdC Fougere with ease providing just the right amount of scrub and scritch. Three passes and minimal touch ups ended in another perfect BBS shave. A splash of Balsamica and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a fantastic Tuesday.

    April 2019 Recap

I spend a lot of time with the Karve D plate OC earlier this month. I even used the Gillette Slim for 3 shaves before going back to razors that I enjoy using. Overall I have had very good to excellent shaves this month. As usual I continued my effort to use up some of my soaps but alas I seem to add more soaps quicker than I am using the up. Like all previous months, the best part was following along and interacting with you guys. Thanks again for allowing me to hang out. I look forward to participating next month.

70 straight shaves under my belt. Seems like more, but that's the number.
Got an incredible lather from the WK today. One of the wettest, shiniest, slickest lathers,
that I have created in a while. Top-notch soap.
    Scent...we'll get back to that.
Glen honed the crap out of this, what I have called in the past, "Motown Mower".

It feels really comfortable in both hands---I can't say that about all of my straights.
"Double Hollow Ground" :signs002: Not at all sure what these terms really mean.
The notch at the front of the blade also defies all explanation.
BUT, this baby can cut and cut it did...;) HAIR, not skin, thankfully.
So the Rooney brush is nice, but I am underwhelmed. It's more like a museum piece, than a brush

that brings me joy to use. The knot is "wild", it has dropped a few bristles, despite me being extra
careful, using paintbrush strokes, yada, yada.
Not what I would call a "shedder" by a long-shot, but I have a very low tolerance for brushes that lose hairs.
Good shave results. Navigating the chin is a b----- (b-word).
Stretch this way and that; left hand-right-hand. Up-down...
I cannot seem to get the flow that I have long since mastered with a DE.
    I can round a curve with my 2011 R41
    better than Mario Andretti.
Must learn how to do the same with an open blade...I think I can, I think I can...:transport022:
Now to the scent. Man from Mayfair is WK's "Barbershop" scent. It is nice and after dry-down
leaves a "powdery" scent, which is soft-smelling.
SWMBO comes into the bathroom for her morning shower and proceeds to proclaim her disapproval.
Goes so far as to suggest I give the AS away and it might be "spoiled".
    I calmly
explain, that I think an alcohol-based aftershave would probably not turn, but that was met with
    a non-response.

Stirling Sharp Dressed Man After Shave Splash

The long anticipated first shave with the Karve open comb plate was completed this morning. It was a very nice shave and I think the D plate is my sweet spot. I am still sitting on the fence about the open comb. I love the looks and I don’t think there is a better-looking combination on the market but looks do not a shave make. I need to run the open comb some more and get a better feel for it but it does not seem as smooth as the solid bar plates. For some reason I thought it would be a little smoother. There is a very slight difference and will require more shaves to make an “official” call on that one. Overall it was a great shave and the open comb is definitely a keeper. No weepers or nicks.

I finished up with some Nivea and Sharp Dressed Man. I am smelling pretty but not looking pretty. I cannot help that, it is what it is.

I am starting to look forward to Mayhem. This will be my first participation with MAYhem and I hope I can live up to or through the expectations.

Also, I did learn one important thing from April’s 30DC, I hate the smell of ARKO. That stuff if still double bagged and locked away.

Take care and have a great day.
