    Purchased this for 2 reasons:
    1. Heard good things and stainless steel scales sound soooo easy to maneuver :), and
    2. Didn’t have one... or maybe I did

I wanted to compare this to my Bill Ellis “Hybrid” and see if I could verify that it started life as a Wapi. I think I can safely say yes.

    And the grind:

I’ve seen this grind and a wedge grind, and I really enjoy this one.
But if I was to use it daily, the steel scales would have to go.
One more mystery of the universe solved. :happy036:
    Enjoy your shave.

Today's shave was with an American Made, Modern Razor. I had a somewhat smooth, 2 pass shave, that left me near BBS, in most places. It needs some work, on the stones. Interesting razor.

    Razor- Hart Steel, JA, 11/16th.
    Brush- JR#262, WD Silvertip
    Soap- Arko/Sandalwood scented
    Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman

Thanks again, Gary. I have a few nice ones, but mostly "plain-jane" razors. I enjoy them, but don't have RAD for them...like I still have BAD.:)

It is a heavier grind, but they have a model that is even more a wedge. I’m probably splitting hairs, but maybe 1/4 hollow grind when actually holding it in hand.

‘New’ razor arrived yesterday and got the full treatment, details in the honing thread. Leon Pelleray frameback, Paris. Soap was the lovely MdC fougere lathered with a TOBS brush and a little Brylcream-like (a little dab will do ya) Cade AS balm finished up.

Most of the time I like the wider razors, 6/8 and up, but I like the old French framebacks really well too. A good one like my St Joanis or this one will shave the barbs off a barbed wire fence!

I would agree an 1/4. Because it seems to exponencial straight near the edge. But at first sight it looked to me like a Wegde .
    Kind regards

9/16 barber's notch John Holler/Tower brand along with a Sheffield made John Watts/Gleaner open comb DE. I performed 60 x's on the Thuringian last evening before the usual linen and horse hide Illinois strop.

Two passes with the straight left little for the Gleaner.

Vintage 6/8 Dovo Bergischer Lowe touched up last night and one of a pair, soap was MdC rose, followed by a splash of Harris Pink AS. All is right with the world.

Very nice shave this morning. I've had pretty good luck with T.I.'s and have found them to be very nice shavers for me. I have an 6/8 "extra hollow ground" T.I. coming in the mail and expect it early next week. Have a good one.

This arrived this afternoon. It might be my new favorite razor.
    - Soligen razor with butterscotch scales - a generous gift
    - Maggard's London Barbershop shave soap
-Custom boar brush that was a generous gift
    - Royal Copenhagen cologne, my wife's favorite

I originally posted this on the shavette section, then realized I was on the wrong portion of the site. [IMG]
