That it is...I'm somehow related to Abe Lincoln. Don't recall how, but it's on my Mom's side. His name just popped up. It makes SOME sense, as my maternal grandfather and Lincoln shared the same charismatic style, and height(I think Lincoln had Gramps by a few inches though).

Very interesting. I did some family research on my dad's side and when I started he said you will probably find some things out you may not want to know. He was right but I found some great things as well.

A shave and a post in the same morning! Sarcasm aside, this was a good shave with the pain stick. Two passes left me with good results. I went with one clean up pass with the prewar Tech, and ironically gave myself a weeper with it and not the CJB.
After the Felce Aromatica talk yesterday, I had to reach for it today of course. @Keithmax, this boar isn’t as broken in as the other one, but it is getting there.
Long day ahead, as I will be leaving work in the afternoon and driving about 600km to be at my best friends 50th B Day party tomorrow. It is a bit of a suprise that I’m coming. We grew up together, roomed as undergrads for a few years and he was the best man at my wedding. I bug him that I wasn’t his best man as they eloped to get married 20 years ago.
Looks like a long, but fun, weekend ahead.

    Have a great day all!

What a beautiful Shave! I switched out the aristocrat for the UK made super speed flair tip today, and what a great razor! I find it shaves very similarly to the Aristocrat, but the head seems to be easier to manuvere into tight to reach places.

I decided to do an afternoon shave because i have to get up early tomorrow, and im so glad i did.

This feather blade never ceases to amaze me. I told myself as i started lathering that this will be the last shave with the feather, but the way it effortlessly cut through almost two days of growth changed my mind.

I went with Arko again this morning, i tend to use it at least twice a week, its such a good performing soap.

Razor: gillette super speed flare tip(UK)
    Blade: feather hi-stainless (31)
    Soap: Arko shave stick
    Brush: dischem synthetic
    Aftershave: status for men[IMG]

    May 3rd

    Proraso PreShave
    Castle Forbes Lime SC
    Zenith Boar
    Puma Special
    Gentleman Jon Alum
    Proraso Styptic Gel
    Pinaud Citrus Musk

Wanted to use the Puma...try for a third time (1st and 2nd was before finding TSD). First time, not shave ready as advertised. So, sent it to be honed. Same issue, just not quite so bad. So....I tested my ability to hone it last night. Norton 1000, Norton 4000, Norton 8000 and then a Shapton 12k. 8 round trips each. Stropped as well, 25 rounds.

The Puma still needs work, as I was able to make it shave the flats of my face and neck. But....very tuggy and irritating! This even with shaving within seconds after applying copious amounts of CF. Gave up and moved to my Feather DX and Feather Pro Guard (on 3rd day of use). Much much smoother, but could tell the Pro Guard is nearing its end for me. Shavers that get 5+ uses out of this blade must really have thin/soft hair shafts. Today was completely using open edges, so overall a good day. Tried a little left hand on the Feather DX (flats of the left cheek, lower neck), no issues. Right handed was able to do everything else, including all trim/touch up work under the nose and around the top/bottom of my lips. A decent CCS. I'll take it.

Had a couple weepers though (from the Puma skipping). Gentleman Jon couldn't fix a couple. Had to break out the big boy styptic today. The Proraso Styptic Gel stops most any bleeder/nick/cut in it's tracks. 5 minutes after application and the area looks like Shar Pei skin. Onto the Pinaud, and lit my face UP (think that Home Alone scene). Haven't had any AS do that in quite some time.

I'm close to the conclusion from the DE blades I like, as well as the Feather Pro Guard blade, I need (like) blades ridiculously sharp. Makes them just glide over the skin and slice really well. Will need to get skilled on honing better.

Hope everyone has a GREAT Friday!

Razor: Timeless OC .95 w/ Barber Pole Handle
Blade: Personna 74 Tungsten Steel (17)
Brush: El Druida Red Heart Chakte Kok/African Blackwood 2 Band
    Soap: C.O. Bigelow Cream
    Folsom & Co. Shambala
    Bowl: Pottersong Shave Bowl.

I'm going to focus on OC razors and shave creams this month. I hardly ever use creams, so this is a first focus on shave creams.
Outstanding 2 pass shave with a touch up. Have a great Friday and weekend everyone.

Thank you all for your prayers and concern. It means a lot to me. My Dad went through the procedure OK and should be fine. They decided to keep him overnight for observation and he should be released this morning.
