First time using Tabac, and really loved it. Great soap. Face lathered with the omega boar which dropped a few hairs. Hopefully it's not going to continue shedding. Definitely ordering the aftershave. I'm a fan of musk, so tabacs fragrance is very nice to me and pairs well with aqua velva musk. I'd say tabac performs better than arko and derby, and is closer to Cellas performance. Alum got a little temperamental around my chin, but great shave anyhow. Go Cubs![IMG]

Thanks! It was a hit with the family. No leftovers on anyone's plate. :eatdrink020: Both girls and wifey said to make it anytime. The best part is in our house....whoever cooks doesn't clean. So, I am done!

If you are the grilling or smoking food type...the smoking meat forum is a group taking that hobby to a level similar to most of us with wet shaving. Some awesome knowledge, experience, equipment, advice and of course recipes.

Thanks, gentlemen, for the kind words. Yes, we're getting excited now.

@Paul Turner, thanks for the comments on the lighting. The wall color is a mix of grey and beige. It's called greige. Yes, it's a silly name. You can't make this stuff up. :) We have plenty of windows for natural lighting too. That was important to us. If the neighbors look in the Den window, they're going to get a morning shaving demo. :happy102:

    Thanks again, guys.

I believe every man, woman and child apparently had one. The lady that run the store said they had about that many more in storage.

I can see the logic to starting with a sharp, but not necessarily long lasting blade as a newbie. Assuming three & out so they don't suffer dullness. Also not using a blade for it's perceived smoothness. Many new DE shavers start with a bit of trepidation and little technique. Catching them early and explaining No Pressure / Skin Stretching / Cap Riding ought to give a better than cart shave.
Hey Chris, I'm Rick. Got you in my personal TSD Members 1st name database. I've found I prefer alcohol based AS and didn't like the unscented witch hazel for that Eau de Burnt Newspaper smell. One of my grand daughters started the teen age acne breakouts on her forehead so I got her a bottle of the Thayers Rose WH. Having it and a jug of The Rub I gave it a try. Details in my SOTD below!
Paul, have you noticed the mouth - to - brain ratio of those critters? I'm not drawing any conclusions. Just noting the disparity.

My daughter purchased a product for her son. It's not really shave soap, but after checking the list of ingredients I thought it worth a try.

    MAYhem Kidding around?

    Geko Grape Bath Foam
    Lutz Slant & Gillette 7 O'clock Yellow
Thayers Rose Petal WH & Osage Rub
    SOTD 05052019.gif
No brush or bowl used, just shook the can and hand applied the Concord grape scented Lanolin enriched soap. First pass gave the impression of a little slickness with no glide. The texture of the foam is fairly flat but it gave enough lubricity to get the job done. Took two more passes using a shot of fresh foam each time. While the razor performed it's usual well tuned reduction consisting of 2 aggressive/1 mild side pass and the blade was up to snuff, the lather just didn't give what I hope for in a shave soap. I'll pass it back to my grandson for him to enjoy. Post shave experiment actually feels pretty good and I credit the lanolin ingredient. Chris @MR41 shared his WH & Osage Rub idea so I gave it a try. The combination of Grape Foam, Rose Petals, and Menthol works fine for me. I haven't asked anyone else's opinion yet.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Pretty sure those are both often used propellants for shave cream in a can. Now I want to go see if I can catch the stuff on fire!
