Thanks Danny! I do like this blade very much. It isn't a heavy blade so it is very easy to maneuver with my shavette. I have light olive skin so the oil will be a good complement on my next shave.

Thanks, Clint! I really do enjoy shaving with this shavette. I know it has a bad rep because it is very light, etc., but it is a great razor once you get the feel for it.

    Proraso PreShave
    Zenith Boar
    Proraso SC
    Puma Special
    Proraso Styptic Gel
    Gentleman Jon Alum
    Proraso Sandalwood AS

About 48 hours growth. The Puma was much better today after watching and trying to duplicate what I saw from a couple of gssixgun's honing videos using the same stones, 4/8/12, and then ~50 laps of stropping. No irritation with a mostly 95% area 2 pass shave. Still not as sharp as I think the Puma needs to be, but it's close. Used the Dart with a Gillette Wilkinson Sword blade to finish the small areas I wasn't comfortable with using the Puma. Had one razor bump on my chin that I lopped....a pretty good weeper. No biggie, still a successful DFS.

As always, the Zenith Boar and Proraso were nearly perfect. Those two in combination are a lather cushion dream.

Over the weekend I read a LOT in the Straight Razor forum. Many different last 2% rabbit holes to choose from on how to achieve the best SR edge (polishing after bevel setting). Me, I'm originally a math guy, so I'm going to go at honing and achieving the edge I want with a minimalist approach. Realizing I'm a SR newbie, and probably in the minority in this thinking, but to my brain, straight razor (or any) shaving boils down to technique, friction and sharpness. If I can shavette shave successfully, then I mostly (not completely) have technique and friction working. Sharpness is controlled by blade choice. So...in a straight razor world...it's mostly, a matter of matching the shavette blade geometry to a straight razor's honing process (discounting shavette blade coatings, cause that's not an at home achievable process). Yeah, I'm realizing it's an over stuffed bucket of worms spilling into a rabbit hole....

    Happy Monday!

No real Mayhem today. Didn't get around to the shave until about 1pm, so I went with a DE.
This DE happens to be 111 years old.
I was able to dissolve the AdP granules a couple of weeks ago with some boiling water.
I let the creme cure until today. Firmed up pretty well.

This is the original formula and it's a very nice product. Once again, too bad it's no longer available.
The Rooney was excellent and the Old Type can still strut its stuff.
This City blade is not too
    terrific, but serviceable.
Eschewed a post-shave scent and opted instead for some unscented Simpsons ASB.
    Excellent shave.

Thanks Clint! I'll be happy with 'proficient at honing', as long as I can service my RADs:eatdrink047:! Everyone else can spend the $$-$$$ chasing the last 2% for the 'perfect edge'. My next honing project is a J Henkels purchased back in Feb.

And....the OREN with 2 Dot plate, used this morning. Very cool, neat design. Always, :signs154:!

Thanks Keith. We are getting excited. We did the 'almost' final walk through with the builder this morning to identify some final touch ups to the trim and walls.
