Keith, great report & shave. I am not supposed to covet, but that is an exquisite razor! Everything about it is first rate! Your straight razor collection is awesome!

 

Well....I beat the R.A.D. Borg today. Watched a few O.R.E.N. videos....and thought, maybe I'll put it on a Father's Day/Christmas/Birthday list. It IS a very cool razor!

So is my wallet!

 

The OREN is a very cool razors. The three different plates over everything from mild to wild. Make sure you get the OREN since it’s the enhanced version with a redesigned base plate.

Joe, it's a proven fact that you get more shaves from a Voskie if you shave with low-fat Ranch dressing. Skip the bacon bits, though, unless you want to change blades after every shave.

Seriously, I'm 3 and out with DE blades, and Voskhod blades are one of my favorites. They are super smooth, although not quite as sharp as Feathers, but they treat me well.

 

hello fello shavers, hump day shave, random pics that work well night..first test drive with the 38-40 sheraton from a fine gentleman here..loaded with a nacet on 2nd go,,drop of murphy and mcneil claddagh in the captains bowl and the rr 400 built a wonderful slick lather.. nice 2 pass combination dfs+ shave, no drama, took my time with this one, first oc tto shave, very nice .classy looking razor..will dial it in..have a great evening gents..

 

Every time I open my bottle of Clubman, Paul, it reminds me of Buck's Barbershop where I went as a kid. I'm sure every haircut included a palm full of Clubman on the back of the neck. It's amazing how the brain associates vivid memories with different fragrances.

Every time I use bay rum aftershave, I think of Mr. McCoy, my HS calculus teacher. I didn't know it at the time, but he must have worn bay rum cologne.

 

Shave number 3 with the Autostrop. Not quite as good as yesterday, but still way better than the first attempt.
Again I took full advantage of the opportunity to break out the glacials. Life is good.

 

Keith, that's a gorgeous razor. I bet that's a fun one to use. Congrats!

Thanks for the info. I did see some of that noted in the videos. Definitely will get the latest version when/if I do.....<what's that?....psst....brain interruptus....that voice....you know....dude....just do it....it'd take....like 2 minutes......you could sell a DE or two>....Quit...don't do it.......but honey....it was on SALE!!!!....want some new shoes????

My thoughts are to have/acquire the 'must have/very cool/fun' razors, 2 (no more than 3) in each category. 1 cool DE, 1 that has significance to me (I'm done, need to sell or PIF a couple). 2 SEs, same idea (one PIF likely on the way to me soon). 1 Kamisori (just cause I think they are so cool, and want to learn to use). And then there are straights....obviously have 2 vintage examples, but don't know if I can have that much restraint. I'm really dropping jaw seeing all the other possible vintage, new, and custom designs that get posted.

Sounds like you have a well thought out plan.

I'm not even going to lie. Nor make up a story. Nor tell a half-truth. I'm beat. Tired. As in, falling asleep at the keyboard. It's been a busy week, I didn't sleep well last night, and put in a full 12 hours today between a doctor visit and work. The "NO SHAVE TODAY" rule is officially in effect and I'm going to call it an early night and try to catch up more tomorrow. MAYhem is rocking along!! Thanks for keeping it going guys and gals!!

 

Funny, Charlie! It is my first time using Voshkods so I don't have a track record to know what is a reasonable blade lifespan. The next shave will be no. 5 with the blade and I will see how it goes. According to Chris, it is 5-7 so I will be entering that zone. I suspect I will only have 5 shaves and no more. Que sera sera!

 

Awesome setup Keith and a great reason to break out a Glacial!
