Sorry, I really wish I were around more today. A combination of feeling like crap and having company for the weekend is keeping me busy. I am looking forward to working on that brush, looks sweet!

Thanks, Bong! I thought that was what folks called a pipe razor, but I hadn't ever asked, and haven't looked at enough of them. The imprint on the tang says:

"Original &True ***** Razor", where the asterisks are a tiny little pipe symbol. Strangely, it's upside down, kind of like this:

I've always thought it was the nicest one of the bunch. It's very close to being sharp enough to shave with now. I'm thinking about sending this one to Glen in Idaho, if he'll have me as a customer.

FWIW, I was born in '59 (yes, I'm a vintage guy...). Mom was born in '17 (she was a whopping 42 yrs old when I was born). Her father was born in 1894 (the grandpa that owned these razors). I think some of them might have belonged to his father, but I'll never know...

 

Glen is a pretty helpful guy, answered my questions right away, and lead me straight to what I was looking for. If he is booked, I know couple other guys that can get them honed and back to you pretty quickly.

When I contacted him last week, he said he was on a next day turn around for honing. I sent my blades out to him on Tuesday, and still haven't heard whether they've arrived or not yet. I just PMed him to see if they came today maybe. I am going from Baltimore to Idaho, so it may take a while, especially if they still use the Pony Express out there. :happy102 Glen is very quick with his PM replies, and very helpful, too.

Made it to a tea shop I found out about recently in Sommerville (past Harvard) tonight. Tea Zone. Great prices, great products. Picked up Dragonwell, Matcha, and some Oolong. Realized lately that I was practically out of green teas.

There are times (few) that I'm grateful to not be a woman... this would be one of those. Jen, wow, it makes my head hurt to even try to figure this out! This comment, of course, is intended with only the greatest respect. :think001

 

Hey Dom, I'm angry... My roommate made a huge mistake, basically the biggest mistake a person can make in my book. Three of them actually, first off she attempted to redirect blame off of herself at an uninvolved person, she complained about me to our other roommate while never confronting me and she kept ignoring calls when I attempted to talk to her because she was too busy hiding in the library. Apparently my roommate has issues dealing with another person in her living space. She has not been complaining about me personally but the fact that we do not follow the same schedule and have different sleeping habits and noise tolerance levels. I would be fine with this and attempt to fix it if she actually confronted me about it but instead she decided to be catty about it. This is a big problem because once somebody starts a girl fight with me I girl fight back. I'm really mean, my phone will now be going off at all hours of the night, my TV will be louder, my music will be louder, when her boyfriend comes over I'll be inviting a bunch of people over for a movie, if I know she has a test in the morning I'll probably accidently fall asleep with my lamp on and the heat all the way up. Stuff like that... I'm just generally angry. She's been acting like a child because I said I don't want a friend of hers who always makes a ton of noise and wakes me up sleeping over anymore.

sometimes I wish I was a guy too because I know there is never drama like this in boy world.
