Yep, this makes my head hurt... :angry021

You probably don't want/need advice from an old man, so I'll (mostly) keep my big mouth shut. One thing though - when you carry around a bunch of anger, it only hurts you and almost never the person at which it's directed. You know, the whole visualization and manifestation thing...

And actually, as a guy in college living in a dorm, there was plenty of that kind of crap going on between my roommates. I'm grateful to be older now.

Really? all my guy friends in dorms haven't had drama like that. See the thing is I direct it in ways that will clearly annoy her and be totally no problem for me  Nah but really, I know what you mean. I'm just angry, the one thing I'm not ok with is not talking about something then blowing up which is pretty much what she did.

I guess guys just handle it differently, like with stupid humor, or with beating the crap out of each other and then going out and getting drunk. I had one roommate that was a huge complainer. He came from a big family and was always griping that he never got any mail and was really lonely. He had to have everything super clean and organized, and would always have these snide comments about what a mess everything else was in. He was a dumb as a rock - we had to do his homework for him.

So..... another roommate and I started by suggesting he befriend a nice sheep or two to help him loosen up and not be lonely. Still, after several weeks of hearing this suggestion 5 or 6 times a day, he still kept yapping about how lonely he was. We figured out how to get him some mail.

Without ever (to this day) telling him what was up, we pooled our money and bought prepaid postcards (they cost about 12 cents each back then). Then, we picked up a bunch of free magazines at the grocery stores.

Back in the dark ages, free mags in the stores always had these mail order offers where you could send away for free samples of stuff. So yeah, you got it, we sent like twelve bucks worth of post cards out for free samples and used every possible form of his name (J.Q. Public, John Public, J. Quincy Public - you get the idea).

The mail started to slowly arrive in about 2 weeks. After 6, he had a bin all to himself in the dorm mail room and the postman was carrying an extra bag every day. I'll bet the poor schmuck still gets five times as much junk mail as any normal human.

Guys just handle irritation amongst roommates differently.

    nice

see my problem is when people are open with me I'm easy to deal with. I don't get mad, I don't hold a grudge. When I find out there has been a problem for weeks that I didn't know about I just get really angry. I think the reason it bothers me so much is because I know I can never trust that person again, once somebody is talking about complaining behind your back you can never trust them because there is no way of knowing they won't turn around and do it again. I really thought the people in this room were better then that. I will admit though that there isn't much that can be done. I won't change my sleep schedule or stop using my TV, I give her respect when she's doing work but she just needs to understand that she lives with another person.

It is hard to live with people. It's one of those paradoxical truths that makes us humans. We are socially dependent and bond in pairs, but it's hard for us to live with other people. Strange design for living, but good for learning...

The needs of others are sometimes hard to accommodate, especially if those others are demanding more than asking, and if your only choice is to stick it out until the lease (or semester) is up. Hang in there, make peace if possible, take a lot of walks if peace doesn't work...

it's not a huge deal, she has sleep issues and should be living in a single but whatever. There are 2 months left in the semester, spring break is in a week, it's just not a major problem in my life right now. Next semester I'll be living with a good friend of mine. The benefit of this isn't even that we get along (which we do) but more if I get annoyed at her or she gets annoyed at me we'll be completely upfront and honest. We've also shared and bed and seen how the other sleeps and just know it will work out a lot better then this match did.

edit: UB has 2 campuses, we both live on north but have friends on south. The buses only run between the two until 2 AM so if we get stuck on south we end up sharing a bed or crashing on a floor together.

Yep - way better. Being upfront and honest is probably the definition of being a real friend. There are these two guys I've known since grade school. I've lived with each and both; we still talk every few days. If one of us ever needed someplace to live, it would be no problem simply because we're always straight with each other.

Seems like that's what you've got to look forward to...

Morning. GF made me go to $%@! grocery store. I feel like hell and really want to just lay in bed and attempt to sleep. Waiting for our yearly snowjam. Still wont get close to freezing but still going to snow. I have to shave with a menthol cream today. Thinking of Noxzema or Omega. Ughhhhhh...........need to lay off the beer.

    Morning.

Time to respond to everything I couldn't respond to last night.

Sorry I fell asleep on you, Jen.

    3000? Really?

    Congrats, Fuzzy.

    You talk too much.

Fell asleep on you last night, Jen, so sorry. Tom seems to have said most of what I wanted to say, including that you should try to avoid the anger and that there is boy drama too.

Very nice. I ended up sending a group of Mormons to preach and deliver a bible to the guy that lived next door to me one of my years in college.

Morning, Shawn. Hope you feel better.

    AND LAY OFF THE BEER!

    Some questions for you, Fuzzy:

Do you like the smell of Anise?
Have I already sent you a sample of C&E Sweet Almond Oil shave cream?
Do you use balms? If I recall, you're mostly a splash person, right?

Yeah... I gave in and used the slant this morning. I have mixed feelings after the first shave with it (7 O'Clock Sharp blade). Of all the closed combed or safety bar DE I have tried. This is the best. On the other hand, I don't know that it beats out SE or Open Comb. It was a great shave no irritation, no nicks, etc...; however, I get shaves like that out of NEW open combs and SE as well. If I had to pick only one razor to keep and get rid of all others, this would be probably in top five.... but desert island scenario may not get the slant. We will see what we see when we see what we see.

Nice set! I don't know if I could choose. You are all going to make me start using a straight this summer. I know it.

I am now... but only for now. I am trying to find the way out of the wires... it is kind of cramped in this computer...

Agreed... hope it works out. I don't recall ever having problems like that, but then again, at college one, I moved out of my assigned dorm room and crashed in the room with another all night computer geek. At college two, my roommate left me and I had the room to myself all year. Then I got married and lived in family housing the rest of college days...

I know this was aimed at Fuzzy... but Anise as a scent. I like anise but I know so many who are opposed to anything anise flavored I don't know how that would go over as a scent.

Good morning all. I must have went up too many flights of stairs running all over IU Northwest yesterday with middle schoolers... my knees are killing me. I am finishing up some stuff in my room while I install xubuntu on a computer compiled from old parts that were laying around so my daughter has something to use while she is in my classroom in the afternoons.
