May 12 SOTD: Razor: PAA Ascension SS Blade: Rapira PL Brush: PAA The Green Ray Lather: PAA Al Fin Aftershave: PAA Al Fin Additional Care: Stirling Unscented PSB Another terrific shave with the Ascension this morning. I was extremely late, and this razor works extremely well when rushed. It was two very quick passes, and I had a DFS. I am doing my best to keep things moving for my wife on this Mother's Day. I hope everyone has a great day!
Mayhem 2019 Art of Shaving Sandalwood~~Simpson Emperor 3~~Friodur SR #80 Mos Def nearing 100 SR shaves. Muscle memory is good. Stropping has VASTLY improved and, BTW, whoever told the SR shaver that you WILL nick your first strop, was telling the truth. My first strop, not a cheapy, but not the MOST expensive either, is already stored away, awaiting my first attempt at refinishing it. (refinishing?, can't think of the correct term) Yummy AoS sandalwood creme. I've taken to applying the few cremes I own directly to my face and then taking my damp brush and working up the lather. That was exactly what I did with the newly-acquired Emperor 3. Nowhere near as "beefy" as my just-sold Paladin Chief, but I am very pleased with the trade off. My PK-47 is also packed up fir the new owner. Replacing it will be another "Grey Box" era Simpson. This one, due to arrive any day, is a Persian Jar in Best Badger. Not a Two Band, but I didn't pay the premium of a two band. The Emperor is a regal brush...elegant from stem to stern and now that there are no longer any Paladins in my den, the Simpson/Morris & Forndran coalition has assumed control, with the Rooneys holding the minority whip appointment. The Twins really provided a shave, worthy of #80. One little "oops" on the chin, reminded me that, while I am getting adept at this, I should never get over-confident. Post-Shave was wonderful and I smell.... terrific.
