Ok Williams is a mystery. No blooming or bowl lathering this time. Just loaded from mug and face lathered. Quick to load and a good lather on face. However, it disappears very fast. Halfway through a pass and its disappearing on the other side of my face. Even with what appears to be sub par performance, it was an amazingly comfortable and close shave, no blood or irritation. So I cant complain. First time using a Rapira. Loved it. So far I like these better than Astra and Voskhod, but I'll see how shaves 2 through 6 go with different soaps. And that osage rub is a spicy meatball, wow. Have a pleasant evening gentlemen. Happy shaving

I don't know about you all, but it was a busy day here. I did NOT rush through the shave. I did still end up with a couple of weepers though, and a near-yikes moment when the razor felt like it wanted to dig in. I'm pretty sure that a shavette would sliced me but good. This was with my left hand, which is still kinda clumsy in some places. But no real harm done, so it was a good shave in the end.

Sounds like the load needs to be a little less quick. Disappearing lather usually means not enough soap. Yes, I have had soaps that I think would disappear even if I'd loaded the entire puck, but Williams isn't one of them.

I still haven't tried Osage Rub. I need to do that. Sounds like something I'd like.

Does it matter the diameter of mug to puck? There's a decent amount of space between mug and puck
Kind of a dumb question I know

Not really. Maybe a little annoying if the puck is sliding around, but you should still be able load the brush.

 

Don't give up on the Williams yet. Keep trying. I bowl lather mine. Great shave and picture.

Don't know about that. My puck fits tight in the mug. I dampen my brush and get a good load and then whip it up in the bowl.

 

I definitely had better results when I bowl lathered . Williams will always be in my rotation. I just need to learn what works
