  1. I have to admit you are trying your best with the Durham. Great shave and that SR is purdy!

  3. If that was the case, as an adjustable wide open shaver, then I would not be able to shave my head with a straight or shavette by feel without any major or minor booboos. I believe that my technique is very good to excellent.
  4. You gave it a go, and that's what's counts, Robert!

  13. I appreciate your explanation and, what's most important, the results that work for you, Joe. I would only offer this, as a quasi-counter: The "gap", or shall we call it, the "space below the blade" is, imo, a non-factor in the actual hair removal. Best example I can think of, is an open blade...the largest gap of them all, correct?, and the smallest: for me it was the Feather AS-D2. When the proper angle is found (admittedly more difficult to keep with a narrow gap), the edge of the blade is doing all the work, not the gap. I also acknowledge that the term "gimmick" is probably inflammatory. I blame @wchnu for this crease in my armor. :happy102: Just kidding, Fuzzy. ;)

  15. If you are looking for fireworks, Danny, you might need to hop over to another large Forum, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. :) TSD is the only forum, where I feel I can express my opinion, without a quiver of arrows shot back at me...especially by the "so-called" mods.

  18. Joseph, I don't have a problem with what you said, except the gimmick remark which you retracted. Like you, I have been shaving for many decades and I know what works and what doesn't work for me. I can't take a chance on buying fixed gap safeties because I wouldn't know which is aggressive or not. Truth be told, I don't want to know. The VDH razor is my only non-adjustable safety in my den. I was tired of disposable cartridges and razors so I took a chance with VDH. I just like to change the gap to the widest opening because I get a better shave doing so. I always appreciate your input, Joseph. Rest comfortably for the next few days.

  19. I really did not have a dog in this so to speak and I hope I did not come across the wrong way but that is what I like about TSD. Civil and friendly discussions. My apologies if anyone thought I was stirring the pot, that was not my intentions.

  20. To every member, I just want to say that we can amicably disagree when stating our case for or against a shaving concept. Constructive communication is the key for gaining knowledge on shaving. I will admit when I am wrong or concede your point. Since I have been on this forum, I have learned some things that opened my eyes and for that knowledge, I say thank you! Have a great Friday evening, guys!
