Love that set up Steve. Is that a Style 3 Medium? Obie was selling a Filly, but the $400 price tag was beyond me. They are good looking razors.
Thank you Primo! Yes, it’s a 3/2, 24mm knot in 3-band Heritage hair. Fantastic brush with a ‘nuclear’ bloom, I used it this morning so it’s fully bloomed, almost 4” across which isn’t too shabby for a 24mm knot. Takes a good bit of soap to load that big boy up, but sublime when you do. But like many of us, I have no shortage of soaps and creams!
I am going to grab mine for tomorrow's shave. It a three band Super Badger. I don't know how to identify the "heritage" hair.
I believe mine is labeled Super Badger also, I don’t believe that he labeled them ‘Heritage’ but they were sold as such. The 3-band is dense. Almost Chubby-like hair that the tips are a bit of an attractive honey color rather than a whiter color.
I am fully aware I am a Heljestrand fanboy... and it was a very enjoyable shave with this MK31. And the scales aren’t too shabby. Enjoy your shave. Tom
7/8 Thiers-Issard Wolf and Ram Sheffield Silver Steel Had a great shave with this blade .Mowed down a day and half of growth in no time .Love the weight and jimp orientation on this blade .
Jamie That's a beautiful razor. I'm jealous I'm having so much problems with my hands going knob all the time I don't dare use any of my Straight Razors. One of these days maybe.Great photograph.
Thank you, Patrick, yes indeed the Iwasaki is a very beautiful razor, it's been with me for quite a few years, came my way via Japan NOS 7/8 full hollow, still looks as good as new and shaves like a light sabre.
Thanks, Patrick! I actually just remade it with holes 1/8” farther apart... Lost 1 spot, but it shows off the scales on all the razors much better now.
