  3. May 21st
    Razor: RR Wunderbar
    Blade: PermaSharp (1)
    Brush: WWB Lemondrop/Envy Supreme White
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: PAA Cavendish
    PAA Galactic witch hazel
    PAA Star Jelly unscented
    AS: PAA Cavendish

    Tobacco Tuesday!

    Good morning!

Excellent shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS with totally silent alum. First outing with the Wunderbar and what a first outing it was. Extremely smooth razor! Except for Friday's I've been focusing on open combs this month. I'm torn. The Wunderbar tomorrow or an OC? I have a day to mull it over.

    Have a great day!

  9. Thanks Joseph, cant unsee that pic. He looks like a posterboy for Gillette, maybe for their beard grooming line . Seems to be who they are marketing to these days.

  16. SOTD:
Fantastic shave today, my first using the Wilkinson sword soap so the review is coming up shortly. I absolutely love the scent of the soap though, very strong for a soap.

The fatip piccolo performed perfectly, and so did the Wilkinson sword blade, but its definitely losing sharpness rapidly.

That Wilkinson sword brush just keeps getting better and better, its a super good brush for the price for sure!

    Razor: Fatip piccolo
    Blade: Wilkinson sword (6)
Brush: Wilkinson sword classic shave premium edition
    Soap: Wilkinson sword soap
    Aftershave balm: aquaeous cream[IMG]

  20. Blade games - I haven’t had as much time to spend on my straights as I would like to lately, so in the meantime I’ve been reducing the random blades in the quiver as an fast shave, low maintenance alternative. I still have a ton of random “starter kit” single blades recommended to me as a “learning exercise” when I stated several years age that I need to use. Thanks to the 30DC, what I learned is that evaluating blades before you have the skills to use them is ridiculous. Now I’m suspicious that they’re just low quality, crappy brands that can only be sold and marketed to people who are to new to DE shaving. But I digress...

Anyhoo, Sunday being the Lord’s day and all, I selected the Lord blade as my first victim. All I can say is Lord! Why would anyone choose this blade over others? Well, usually they don’t, as I typically only see them in “starter packs. Will it shave? Sure. It required riding the cap more than I’m used to doing, and it still was not quite as smooth as I’d like, but the result was fine. This made me think “why would I need to ride the cap more than usual?” I’m guessing lack of flex in the blade compared to others? I’ve since discarded the blade, but thankfully have a few more Lord blades made out of different metals I could test this theory on. However, now that I’m writing this down, I’m realizing I’ve already put too much thought into something I really don’t care about very much. Time to move on.

So yesterday and today’s blade was a super max. Already I’m confused. I thought max meant maximum, which, by definition meant there can’t be any more. Right? You know; ‘cause it’s the maximum. Apparently, though, if you put the word super in front of maximum you can get more maximum than just regular maximum. Who knew? Anyway, I’m not sure what the blade is maximizing because it shaved kind of like a plain old regular razor blade. Smoother the second day than the first, but still kind of ordinary. Maybe that’s it. Maybe they’re trying to be super at maximizing the ordinary properties of the blade. That would make more sense. Except there are a few types of super max blades. Do they all maximize different things, or do they maximize ordinary in different ways, or maybe by maximizing the same ordinary experience using different metals and coatings they just maximize overcomplicating the ordinary? Or maybe they’re going for maximum redundancy? OK, now my head hurts.

Maybe I should just go touch up a couple straights...
