  1. I'd like to hear opinions on the new Shavemac ones as well...
  2. Not that good really. There is a thread on Against the Grain.
  3. Thanks, Clint. What is the general complaint of it?

  4. The knot does not appear to be hand tied. Many think it is sourced from another vendor. Not as good as the Simpson or the APS knots. Shavemac has supposedly reviewed the thread in order to correct the issues.

  5. Thank you Clint & Andrew!
Thanks Jim! I believe you noted soft water from your tap. Mine is and I suspect there's day to day variation since the lather can be barely acceptable into decent. Sometime "use more product" helps. Bowl lathering doesn't as it just makes big bubbles.
Sure, Joseph. I'm far enough along in my preference development that I know an easy, slick, good residual lather from a bar of Dove. When I stumble into that case of Vintage Williams in the wild, I'll knock what's left of the modern puck right out of that mug. For now I count using it as a educational experience. It's not as good as ARKO or Palmolive but I've learned to get nearly almost (quickly dissipating) functional lather from the product. It's not the slick. I want buttercream!
  6. Thanks, Rick. Yes, I know those are available, but I feel Simpson should send them to me directly and at their cost. Rob at Simpson agreed, and apologized, but they aren’t here. I’m not chasing them down any more.
  7. Yes, I have a water softener. I believe that to be a variable in our opinions of different soaps.
I load the heck out of it plus transfer more to the bottom of my lather bowl. I've achieved buttercream the last two times I've used it.

  12. I don't blame you, Jason.
  13. Williams Wednesday! And this puck is getting mighty thin. Might just be the next thing I use up.
Another awesome shave with the Enders this morning. Sooner or later I intend to try this with an injector blade. But it's not looking like it will be this week. The vintage Enders blade is still holding its own.

  17. Thursday Shave:

Pressed for time this morning so I went with a DE. I bought the Karve after reading so many positive comments here. I wanted to find a razor for travel as I do not want to risk my 2011 R41 nor my Joris. I tried the OC F plate today. I think this will work for travel, it is a nice razor with either F plate.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A

    Razor: Karve F plate OC
Brush: EDBIO Rudy Vey bog oak handle with Shavemac DO1
    Soap: Fine Vetiver
AS: Fine Vetiver AS, Stirling ASB
    Scent: Dior Bois d’ Argent
