Thanks Danny....as I've said I'm hoping to be able to use this one(Sandpiper)into the summer. After all, don't sandpipers hang around on the beach sands????

Clint, that's an excellent shave! The Eleven soap sounds interesting and have never heard of it.

Jim, great shave, pic, and report. It almost makes me want to use one of my Fatboys, but it is Dovo focus month for me.

Thank you Danny. I hope you enjoy the weekend as well.

Thank you Joe. I think a few people here on the 30DC have used Eleven soaps but I have never tried them until now.

Actually, I am mistaken. I thought piping plovers were sandpipers. They are not. That's why I teach Chemistry and not Biology. Lol!

    Thank you, Joe.
I've been focusing on open combs this month except for Fat Friday's. Next month is going to be Just for Fun June. If I see a shave that inspires me I'm going to do it!

I think that's great! Next month, I think I may pick my razors by writing them down on slips of paper and drawing the "winner" from a hat or box. Also, I won't put the slip back in the bunch so that I won't use the shaver twice.

    Sounds fun!
Neil @NCoxSTL did something similar. IIRC he used a randomizer to pick razor, blade, brush and soap. It was fun to watch.

It's from the guy that made Sapone di Paolo. All new formula with dead cow. I have a few tubs of his older things, but I haven't tried this latest yet. By the time he came out with it, my heap of soaps was downright absurd, so I had to hit the brakes.

I have the Snake Bite AS but not the soap.

It sounds like we followed a similar path. Many times I was disappointed after all the hype. Straights are a different story, The have character and it is like collecting art. I’m preparing to thin my brushes but not my straights.

Leave it open to the air for a few weeks and the scent will be almost completely gone. Then you can as some EO or FO to make your own custom scent. I believe @DaltonGang does this and has a thread on the topic. I'll see if I can find it.

    Martin de Candre~~Simpson Astor~~Dovo 6/8~~Agua Lavanda Puig
    SR #90

Ninety straight razor shaves. Seems like only 87...:happy097:
I needed a lavender "fix" this
morning, and having ridded my den of a few of my choices,
I grabbed a soap that I love, but will not repurchase: Martin de Candre.
The "Original" MdC, is a straight-forward lavender scent. No "bells or whistles".
I decided to bowl-lather this soap and see how much H2O I could incorporate in it.

One of the major complaints about MdC is that it is drying.
I have been guilty in the past of this
    complaint. :scared003:
I posted this picture on April 2, 2015

Believe it or not, I would use this soap for the next 30 days and get through half of the bowl.

I, then Piffed it, because I couldn't look at it anymore. :happy102:
4 years later, it appears that I hadn't sufficiently hydrated the lather.
Fuzzy @wchnu would refer to the above as a "butter cream" lather. Indeed it was.
    Here is today's lather:
    IMG_0281.jpeg
Even though it looks much better, imo, I still think I could have added more H2O...:signs002:
BTW, the Bols au Bois is quite fun to display and gives the bathroom a really nice scent.
This Astor fits really nicely in my hand. The Super Badger knot is wonderfully soft, with the slightest,

and I mean just the slightest hint of floppiness.
Paint-brush strokes were the order of the day.
The Dovo 6/8 is a really nice razor! Not a "Pimp-Stick", by any stretch of the imagination,
just a "plain-Jane" tool that get's the job done. Basta.
The usual routine, with the usual results. All good.
Agua Lavanda Puig. Lavender, yes, but richer, smoother, less sharp in the nose as pure lavender can be.
Nice face feel from the juice.
Edit: The post shave feel today with the "juicier" lather was mos def less drying.
Was it amazingly moist? Nope. Just not drying.

I am going to attribute my "changes" to boredom. I almost started a thread this morning. I think many wet shavers (really, collector's, in general) acquire so much gear because of the initial "high" one gets from having something new. But that wears off fairly rapidly, so we need to find the next "high". Straight razor acquisition disorder was short-lived. I am, for the time being, satisfied with my 10 razors.
Right now, I am on a Simpson Grey Box kick. We'll see how long that lasts. The only way I can justify new acquisitions these days, is if I get rid of more than I acquire. So far that's working.

Beautiful shot, Clint! Love the new Soap Destroyer!
    Fantastic photo Jim!
Great shave Joseph! Did you feel the lather was less drying with more hydration?

More great pics and great report, Joseph!
So that's what buttercream lather is. I shoot for more of a wet sour cream than what looks like whipped cream.
