I'm curious about the BGE. Thick ceramic? Concrete? Uses less charcoal because it holds the heat in?

Thanks Danny. I'm a long ways to Master. This is an exercise in Me, Too-ism. Knowing I can operate SR & Shavette, I've been curious about the kami style format. Splitting the difference between a traditional, left handed, or Western grind high carbon Japanese razor and a low maintenance shavette - I got in for under $20. I'm happy with the Feather AC Pro blades. The blade holder appears to be built much like Feather or CBJ's units. Now it's up to me to keep putting in effort, ask questions, and eventually get error free & acceptable shaves. One day I'll have the experience to pass on to the next contestant.

Had a couple decent shaves this weekend in a tiny motel bathroom that barely provided enough flat surface to place my gear.

First shave was a little rushed, palm lather, so one handed shave, no stretching. Felt like I got a little irritation, but post shave felt fine. Did a face lather on day 2 and felt more in control.

Cold water, Stirling synthetic brush, Kraken soap and AS by Mickey Lee Soapworks (this stuff will lather up with just your dry spit in the desert!), Merkur 34C with shaves 5 and 6 on a Gillette Platinum blade. Stirling balm (Margaritas).

Highlight of the weekend was finding a vintage Gillette razor in the bathroom of my in-laws lake cottage at Lake George. This thing hasn’t been used in at least 40+ years and probably hasn’t been moved since then. Funny thing is, I’ve been coming to this place for 25 years myself and never noticed it. Yesterday I did. Wet shaving has truly opened my eyes!
