Ok, thanks. I didn't really mean exactly like a cartridge. Only in that you put it up to the face and shave without worrying about angles like on a DE.

Ok kids. Wife is kicking me off the computer. See you all tomorrow.

i have sealed packs. almost 60 blades. some in packs of 5, some in packs of 10. i figured out how to revive them recently.

you like these revived blades better than the feathers?

i do personally, yes. the stropping effect is actually more noticeable with the blades meant for the valet.

Finally managed to tear myself away from the What do ya all look like thread... that thing's like a train wreck, but in a good way.

So Feather makes blades for Gem razors? Where do you find these? Dave - watched your autostrop video. Those things are really cool!

I'll have to post a pic of the Edge-Bak Stropper that belonged to my granddad. It strops (don't listen, Dave) DE blades. I need to clean up the leather and give it a try one of these days...

the deather blades are SE blades w/o a spine, which is why they work well in auto strop razors. pauldog on the forums sells them, though i think hes down to his last 100. you should try one out; they give great shaves.

and i as well have a DE blade stropper. mine is a kriss kross though. you can clean the leather with shaving cream. i suggest not using modern blades with it, only those of carbon steel.

Ah, thanks for the hints, Dave. I appreciate that. Never thought of cleaning up the strops with shave cream - that's a great idea. Should I dress them with Neatsfoot oil or something similar afterward?

One more question... how far back do you have to go to find carbon steel blades? I've got blades from probably the 1940's or 50's, but I'd think they're probably stainless.

oh i have no idea past the shaving cream :o

treet makes a few kinds of carbon steel blades, but they may be coated. my next project is a wrapped 3 hole gillette blade.

I've recently discovered the usefulness of looking everything up on wikipedia that my professors don't explain

Wow... looks like 20K will be hit this morning.. if it isn't a vast empty wasteland again. I guess I can write 20+ posts myself... but why when we can multiquote?

True. I might it useful to review things from other points of view as well. I have stacks of old science textbooks, but I find it easier to look things up in wiki to verify that my memory isn't cracked and freshen up rather than lug out book after book. I still won't let my students use it as a resource when researching - they don't have the background or critical thinking skills to know whether or not the information is close to correct.

None here. Mustache that I would be able to grow would be too creepy for middle school. I don't see myself with a soul patch of goatee either.

Wow.. very nice Bong. I don't care which type of razor you put in that box, it is still nice.

    I can only imagine.. :happy102

I know this has been answered a few times, but I do use some angle on my SE shaves. Less angle than DE but not quite flat either. However, I don't keep a protractor out when shaving, I just go by feel so won't even try to estimate the angle. You can start with the head flat and adjust the angle to get a better shave.

OK it has been almost 2 hours since my last post.

Good Morning HYD'ers... Is there anybody out there?

OK... now for Pink Floyd moments....

And yes... there is a Aluminum Tech used in "The Wall"...

    "Hello.
    Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
    Is there anyone home?"

    "Come on, now.
    I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again."

    "Relax.
    I need some information first.
    Just the basic facts:
Can you show me where it hurts?"

"There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what you're saying.
    When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I can't explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
    I have become comfortably numb."

OK... maybe not comfortably numb... One too many passes this morning... But definitely BBS...
