Hey @Laird! Neal @NCoxSTL is Top Dog here & he'll be along to announce April's thread, but probably not until Friday. As to the Theme, that's always optional yet there will be one. Do you have a set up you'd like to Rule / Focus? Any particular facet that you'd like to improve? All that's optional, too. You can just hang out and try to keep up with the chatter. I'm still 75 post behind right now (Wednesday at 4:46 PM, Central time) but it only take a couple hours for another hundred posts to drop.
I'm working this into my pattern. Using the right soap with good residual slickness helps. Like Bill @Edison Carter I've been a long stroke DE shaver so it's a bit of retraining, but I see the advantages.
Another important clue for open blades - wet lather glides better. It's ever good for DE and injectors, or those one sided thingies Fuzzy @wchnu uses.
I'm with you. Set Down Errors are my biggest issue. I haven't muted the corners of those AC Pro blades like I do when 1/2 DE blade shavette shaving.
Power of multiple minds solving the same problem. There can be more than one solution.

From the stories I've heard one of my grandfathers worked on The Manhattan Project. I haven't confirmed it through independent research. That stuff was/is classified. Since he never shared any stories with me I'm guessing his Team wasn't the one that got the answers right.

No such thing, brother. No such thing.

Kassie is babysitting the kiddos while I’m gone, so you’ll have to deal with me with no buffer. It’s probably safer and less awkward than naked skydiving, but I make no promises...

Well after 1 shave, I changed out the Supermax (which many of you will remember as apparently being super at maximizing the ordinary) to try the Supermax platinum. Surprisingly, it is more super than the regular Supermax. Or is it more maximum the regular Max? I can’t keep up. Anyway I’ve been shaving for this thing for about a week now with no deterioration of smoothness or sharpness that I can really notice. Fantastic shaves. Clearly the Platinum has superior superness and maximized maximum.

SOTD 05292019.gif I thought I was 75 post behind. I was sometime after I shaved. Before I could post the back door neighbor asked if I knew how to install a belt on a '02 Toyota Highlander. I didn't, but I do now. Those engine compartments are made for small Asian hands, not my big American mitts. But it's done and I'm back! Wasn't feeling the Williams Wednesday vibe, so I went old school. Following Joseph's @Primotenore advice on wetter is better, I loaded the Maggard's knot, went to the bowl and added water until the lather was just short of drippy. I could have loaded much less soap. This tub has lasted a long time! I think it was Charlie @wristwatchb that gifted a bunch of us 30 DC a full tub back when he officially retired? Hope you & the Mrs. are settling in gently Charlie! When I took razor in hand I knew this was going to be an aborted shave. Scab on my chin needed to be avoided, and a couple tender nearly healed nicks under my jaw. Only went for SAS maintenance reduction with no new perforations. Mission accomplished. Now I have 100+ post to read to catch up.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Rick, I am glad you are open about the short, deliberate, stroke technique. I believe that you will find that it gives a better shave. Again, I am not knocking long-strokers because you are doing what is comfortable for you. However, for those that try the short stroke method, you will see the difference in shave quality.

Sounds like you had a full day, Rick. I know your neighbor appreciated your help on the timing belt install. That saved him a few bucks, for sure. You made a wise choice on your approach to the shave. No cuts and comfortable always trumps a baby smooth shave, IMO. The Route 66 soap is a definite winner. I'm glad you're getting so much mileage out of the tub.

Thanks for the kind words on the move. The house is looking more like home, and the garage is looking less like a random heap of boxes and plastic bags. The pace today slowed down enough for us both to catch a few winks in the afternoon, and we didn't have to operate a vehicle of any kind. A couple of bags of clothes to be donated got filled. Assuming the cops don't show up this evening with a warrant, I'll chalk it up to a pretty good day. ;)

I absolutely adore Piacenza and used the AS today myself. Had a great shave with a new G7:00 black blade in my Merkur 34c, with my inexpensive EJ Super Badger and the B&M Dickens.

I’ll say this. Once I got B&M Dialed in I’m more often slightly disappointed with other soaps. B&M has it all, but it needs a flood of water.

Guessing you got that Apple procedure figured out, Joseph? When you download/upload any graphic, there's a 1mb file size limit. Somehow Tapatalk App gets around that. If you can't find a appropriate animated GIF, link a YouTube video!
Sure, Joe! It's applying a DE Technique to open blade reduction. I needed someone like you to clue me in to using the same thing with the shavette. I'll still get nicks on set downs until I figure out why I'm doing self harm. With time that should solve itself.
Thank you Joseph! I'm a Boy Scout from way back. Doing that Good Deed doesn't stop at the first one, but I always try to get one in every day. I know you said if we don't ask, you won't tell... hope you are well on your way to recovering from that procedure!
Opps, you caught me Andrew. I don't look at calendars as often as I used to. It's scary how fast the pages turn. When I started doing Handy Man jobs a couple years ago, the weather was more important than the day of the week. Now I'm just keeping up with which Season is happening.
Thanks Andrew! I got my phone to pull focus this time. ;)
Thanks Patrick! Not sure about great, but adequate. Amazing as compared to what I used to get from carts so I got that going for me.
I did save him a few bucks since he didn't offer any folding money for the hour or so it took to do the install. I'm counting it as Community Service & karma points. He and I used to talk more until he chained a growly pit bull up near our shared chainlink fence. On the up side, very few people cut through our yards twice.
