Gillette Rold Type with Bic Chrome Platinum Blade. To make a Rold type you do the folllowing. Take 1 Gillette Old Type Add 1 part aftermarket Roller Guard made the Roller Guard Razor Company of Chicago circa 1928/29. Mix and you have a Rold Type. With this guard this razor goes from being aggressive to very mild. If a Gillette post war tech came with a roller guard is about the closest analog I can think of for the type of shave and closeness of shave. If someone would have figured out how to knurl the roller so it has more grab to stretch skin and hair for a closer cut this design with some tweaks would have kept carts from ever displacing DE razors on the mass market and would also be a modern day cart business killer if it provides all said advantages of a cart design at the fraction of the cost for blades.
I went back to my old trusty British made Fat Handle Tech for tonights shave. British Fat Handle Tech Nacet Turn 'N Shave 26mm White Manchurian CBL Outlaw Clubman
I love those Service Sets. I never lucked into one at a decent price. They are a bit hard to come by here in the states. Good shave Gary.
