    June 3

Razor - 1947 Gillette Super Speed
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Stirling Iced Pineapple
Brush - Stirling Two Band Synthetic
    Post - Alum

I went on a scouting mission for the meet-up tonight. Tried a new BBQ joint down the road from where we went last year and gave it a shot. It's called Salt and Smoke. More in a minute.

Shave this evening was the same as last night with just a change in soap and brush. I chose the Stirling Iced Pineapple since it is, after all, Menthol Monday, and used the basic Stirling synthetic brush. Great lather with that great menthol and pineapple scent and I went three full passes. Last night's butchery was, happily, not repeated as I am more awake and alert with a day off under my belt. Finish was BBS and the alum was quiet. A highly satisfying and proper shave if ever there was one.

Now, as to Salt and Smoke.......it failed to impress. At least enough for me to ask any of you to eat there. It's a dry-rub recipe (boo, hiss, already out of the running in my personal book) and their "most popular" sauce is, I believe, KC Masterpiece in a generic bottle. (boo, hiss, more boos and hisses). The brisket wasn't bad, I will give them that. I ordered the burnt ends on the brisket and they were actually well cooked. Black and crispy on the bark with nice juicyness underneath. Oh that the ribs were the same. The ribs weren't bad, just overcooked with the dry rub and not nearly as meaty as a true STL rib should be. Sides underwhelmed for both of us. We had pie at the end. Apple and Pecan. Meh. The atmosphere was great with outside dining along historic Main Street but it looks like Hendrick's remains the top choice for the Saturday night feast. I'm going to get to Sugarfire before then just to confirm that. It's a tough job but somebody has to be willing to sacrifice. I proudly offer myself in service of the 30DC.

    Have a great Tuesday!!

    Tuesday Shave:

First a shout out to @Leclec13 who sent me some blades to try including today's Indian Wilkie, a blade I have never tried before.

I decided to add a focus, I want to clear out some of my DE razors from the den so I will give them a last chance try to stay in the den or on the BST they go. I will definitely keep my top dogs, 2011R41, Joris and Karve F plates. Today's audition is a B&R Rocenl adjustable.

I should like this razor it is heavy and it can be aggressive went dialed all the way open. Everything seemed right except for the results. I definitely had some feedback from the alum. In my cart days, this was a good shave, in my new shaving life this is not acceptable. This razor has never felt completely comfortable to me so it will end up on the BST.

    Irritation B Closeness A

Razor: Rocnel adjustable Gillette Wilkerson Sword
    Brush: EDBIO Everset R1
    Soap: Flying Otter
    AS: Speick AS, Stirling ASB
    Scent: Terre d’ Hermes

It is very slick and leaves a nice post shave feel. I am also auditioning some soaps for the den and I think this one is a keeper.

You really didn’t miss postings about the brush, Andrew. Neal contacted me 3 or 4 months ago about making a brush for the meetup in St Louis and I was happy to do so. We agreed that the brushes would be offered to the 30DC if there were more made than needed. Neal posted the brushes a short while ago and let people know about them then. There really wasn’t any other conversation on the thread leading up to that.
On another note, I have agreed to take a fee for these. I have never done that before (in fact I’ve often resisted selling any, but as you know, have been happy taking trades), but given the volume I was making and the expenditure I put into it, Neal and I thought it was appropriate.

Can anyone see the images that I am posting? When I look at the post the images don't show and there is a red cross mark where the image should be.

I don't know why they won't show up. Is there a certain image format that I must use? I am using JPG for now and all images are less than 1 MB.

    SOTD:
Went for a non traditional shave today using shave gel, i still lathered the gel with a brush which is something i highly recommend you do if you're every forced to use gel in a pinch.

I just decided to use gel today because i had two cans sitting in my cupboard and wanted to use up some of my older shaving products first.

The Nivea gel is best lathered with a damp brush, treat it like a cream, and you'll be rewarded with fantastic lather, very slick, and lots of protection, in my opinion gels are far superior to shave foams and some creams but soaps still reign king in my opinion!

The personna lab blues definitely smoothen out after a shave or two, its now plenty sharp and super smooth!

    Razor: Wilkinson sword TTO
    Brush: dischem synthetic
Gel: nivea for men extreme comfort
    Blade: personna lab blue (4)
    Aftershave balm: prep[IMG]

I would not give up on the B&R yet. Keep in mind the Indian Wilkie, in my book are a second tier blade. I definitely would try some rop tier blades in it. Nice looking razor! It’s something I prolly will never own. Way out of my DE price range
