Jen, I've never been on a plane before either, I stick to the Bible passage where Jesus said "Lo, I am with you always...", so I stay as "low" as possible :D.
it is true, though, that pilots, especially in your area with the two recent incidents, will tend to be at a higher focus than before...if not, there's always:
Rich, that sucks. I was just listening to a guy yesterday (on the radio) who had been laid off, his tip was to treat looking for a job as your job...I know it doesn't help much, but it's a good mindset I'd hope I'd use if I ever face such situation

Brad Stine has a bit on plane crashes, basically he makes the point about how everyone says is safer to fly in a plane, but then he points out the stat that matters....it's still safer to crash in a car than a plane :D

Just had my 2nd shave with the Mergress. I was pretty impressed this time. I got a good shave with a Astra Superior and the razor set on 3.5. Very smooth shave and my face is nice and smooth. I did have one small spot on my neck that I had to touchup with my slant but that is only because I didn't want to try it the mergress. Once I get really used to the mergess I will try some of these touch ups with it.

Is it sad that one of the highlights of the day.. is a small asteroid we didn't even know about a year ago, just missed Earth? I mean it isn't like I wanted Earth to be hit, but several of us at work have raised that in positive cheer today. Is this what we are down to?

The old 50s era Gillette Thins were carbon steel like the Blues? No matter. i'm none with those type of vintage blades. Gonna do it right this time and load up one of those 7 o'clock Yellows in the Tech and try again.

Gooooood Morning/Afternoon folks. Finally got a good night sleep last night. The kiddie drugs worked and she slept through the night. Ahhhhhhh...thank goodness.

Shaved w/ a Merkur open comb and the Speick shave soap sample from Bong today. It's a good shave, but not a great shave. I think the Merkur is too light and the soap lather was too thin. It's tough doing samples with new razors. But I'm trying to get through all this stuff in a timely manner. I need to revisit the soap w/ a proven razor. Down the road a bit. I've got more stuff to get through.

It is a Friday for me today. Weekend off which does not happen often. Looking forward to that. Ok. Gotta get out the door. Check back later.

Shep, I didn't find the Speick soap anything to write home about. Performance was ok, not great, an I don't dig the scent of the soap stick anyways, so not a huge deal for me to put it aside on the also ran group.

Tracy, I never got about 2.5 with my progress. But I really had no idea what I was doing with the thing. Good to see you are getting good shaves with it.

Plane crashes are very rare, Jen. Being in a plane crash is like winning the lottery. Coming to Boston, I assume?

Sorry to hear that. Good luck in the hunt.

Asteroids miss us all the time. It's funny that it's a commonplace occurrence - it just doesn't make it to the news often.

Closest store that carries Clubman bay rum is 20 miles north. Good thing it's a nice day for a drive.

Yellow 7 o'clock in the Tech. Oh what a difference!

Yup... there are always things just missing us. I guess the news and lot of the people just need something positive.. and if this is how far we have to stretch to have positive things to discuss.. its just sad.

Just remembered something that happened this morning. Rode past a lady in her 70s driving a car. She had some serious road rage. First, she beeped her horn at the person in front of her for not taking off right after the light turned green, then she rolled down her window and yelled at me for not being in the right lane (mind you that this part of the road was a big intersection and there were two lanes, both of which are shared bike/car lanes - ones goes in one direction, and the other goes in a different direction). Yelled right back at her and told her that both lanes were bike lanes. Crazy old lady.

In this economy, we sometimes need that stretch for something positive. Not a good sign, but it keeps some of us going, I bet.

Party in Boston. Tracy, I'll send the bag over to you. You can ride it to Boston. Shep - find your own way here. Everyone else, jump on a pony or something.

    What's in Long Islans?

If weather still looks good for tomorrow, I may go ahead and tune up bike tonight and take that to practice tomorrow. However, the drivers on the road are always crazy around here and I am more likely to have idiots tossing things at me and shouting things out now then I am in the summer. I don't think they will be expecting bicyclists out on the roads yet. Crazy joggers are a daily thing, even when the road is a foot or more under snow, but bicyclists we haven't seen many of for the last few months.

People that insist on jogging when there's a foot of snow out get to me. It's crazy.

As long as the roads are clear, there are bikers in Boston. There are less now that it's cold, but some crazy people (myself included) love the cold and don't mind being outside in it.

We were supposed to get snow and rain today. I'm glad the forecasters were wrong. It turned out to be a sunny day with temperatures in the 40s. It's quite nice out. :D

I bet I could be an excellent weather forecaster. It's going to be partly sunny tomorrow with hints of rainbows and isolated pockets of raining cats and dogs...
