the Improved Stoll...For those unfamilier; this was originally the Kampfe-Star Super Six, pat'd in 1914 by Richard Kampfe. It was rebranded as the Improved Stoll as a house brand razor for Sears and Roebuck.

It looks like a cross between an ER 1914 and 1924. HoosierTrooper/Tom first told me about these many years ago when I was researching 'Shovelhead' type razors.

This is the first time I have actually held one...I LOVE IT!

Was rather rushed yesterday so not that happy with the Shave finish , and on return too tired to do a report. As a much later start today decided to do a repeat Shave. I am positive that today the Lather was much better which aided the Shave no end, and I was able to concentrate on not neglecting any areas today. Though the shave seemed over very quickly, everything went smoothly, and I got a Top Notch all round finish which I associate with this Razor.

    Cold Water Rinse
    Morning TOST
    Jayaruh #340 Badger
    Superior Lather Catcher
    Gem Blue Star CS
    CWR
    Aqua Velva Musk AS

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Morning TOST Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #340 badger brush. I did two passes with the Superior Lather Catcher razor with a Gem Blue Star CS blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Yesterday’s SOTD
Jacinthe is such a great summer scent. The Personna Injector never disappoints either.

Today's shave was easy and effortless.
Morning TOST soap works well, and the featherweight is a mild razor that is efficient as well, really the best of both worlds.

I like it a lot. The scent is wonderful! It's slick with great post shave feel. I took advantage of a free sample offer that has already resulted in a full sized purchase.

It was a sales gimmick. They also made one with a handle like a tennis racket.

I did not read the whole of missed post. Sorry if someone beat me to it.

I am adjusting to day shift and not staying caught up on line. Here are a couple of pics fron my last shaves.

The Stirling Nag Champa is just a super scent. 20190609_064622.jpg

I think the old formula of The Body Shop for Men cream is head and shoulders above the current Maca root stuff.

I don't think blade exposure means that much on that type of SE.
The 1914 has more exposure than the '24 and is less aggressive imo.
Also, the VC-1 has complete exposure and I find it milder than both the '14 and '24.

The angle of the edge of the blade in relation to the guard seems to be what affects aggressiveness on these type of razors. The more parallel the cutting edge of the blade to guard or comb where the shave plane crosses it the more aggressive these razors seem to be. That adjustment is done by how high you can raise the blade when you lift the lever on the Auto Strops except for the A models. The same principle I believe is achieved on a EV or Gem for example by the angle of the plate that blade rests on and the bumps to lift the blade.

Went back to the angle I used on the first 2 shaves with this razor/blade combo. My handling of the razor was much better also. Best overall shave thus far, how much that was due to better technique or the blade mellowing out remains to be discovered. Shave was comfortable like the Ever Ready 1914 I used prior but much closer of a shave.
