  1. Images of @Paul Turner can be readily obtained from the security cameras on Aisle 12 at The Pig. He routinely gives out 8x10's to his shopping friends. ;)

  2. Thanks, Joe. The Boker doesn't perform well, because I am somewhat inept at honing.
  3. Stunning picture, Clint!
I hope all goes well with the doctor.

  5. We'll talk you through the process anytime you're ready, Paul.

First thing, do you have a camera on your phone? If so, take a photo of your shave gear with it. That's the first step.

  7. Nice shave and report, Neal! I don't use a mirror when I shave my head and do it by feel. When I shave the back of the head with a shavette or SR, I have my fingers at the spine to help me judge the proper angle. I also keep my offhand fingers to spot the next area to shave and then move them to the next unshaved area.

  8. I think aesthetics, brand and razor geometry make a difference in enjoying a shave. For example, most people would rather be riding in a convertible with the top down, then in a minivan.

  9. Hang in there, Danny. It is sometimes difficult, but it's an honor to serve and love our parents. Just remember what they have done for you. There's no way you'll ever outdo them. Enjoy the blessing of time you have with them. Most everything else is secondary and will still be here when you get around to it. :)

One of my favorite items that I still have from living at home is an old windup alarm clock. It was wound every night, and it literally woke up our entire family around 6 am each morning. From the time the alarm sounded, I remember my Mom's and Dad's feet hitting the floor...doing everything they could possibly do to support the family for that day. We didn't have a lot, but we always had enough. I look back on those days, and I am humbled. My Dad retired from laying bricks when he was 80. He passed a few years ago. My Mom recently passed, but even at 91 years old, she always wore a watch and kept her alarm clock set. She did her own laundry at the assisted living facility...she wouldn't let her caregivers do it for her. There was always something to do. My Mom and Dad refused to give up...sounds a lot like your parents. They must be doing something right. :)

    Probably still married!
    And... prolly hates Clubman
You should pick from one of the other gals. They have a more content expression, prolly divorced.

  12. Thank you for the compliment Danny. That image does have some Photoshop work though. Hardly ever is a flash or sun spot so perfect.

What a difference a blade makes...
The last few straight shaves have been anything but exemplary. Indeed, mediocre is a good term for them.
I am baffled at my inability to get a good edge on a straight. I need to get a copy of Lynn Abrams' DVDs.
Seeing that it's Wednesday, I won't buck the trend to use Williams.
I didn't "souse" it. I didn't "drown" it. One could even say that today I didn't "bloom" it.

I did swirl some water on the puck and dump it out right away.
What shall we name that? Any ideas Fuzzy?
I did add about 3-4 drops of Menthol Bomb to the puck before loading the "Duke".
    That stuff is the "bomb".
The loft on the brush is about 2mm taller than I prefer. It doesn't approach being "floppy",
but the fan of the knot isn't symmetrical.
Nevertheless, it loads well, feels great on the skin and the butterscotch is attractive.
    Now to the shave...:eatdrink013:

Professionally honed by Glen @gssixgun the Portland 1905 did the unthinkable:
IT SHAVED MY DARN WHISKERS OFF. Who'd have thunk???
Seriously folks, I had almost forgotten what it feels like to successfully remove a
face-full of whiskers and be left with a smooth, darn-near BBS shave.
Actually, BBS on about 97% of my face.:happy036:
Now, do I continue to train at honing?
Give it up and send my razors out?
    I seriously am not sure.
All I know is that it frustrates me to NO END that I can't get even get CLOSE to this kind of edge.
A couple of healthy splashes of the Aqua Velva completed a wonderful shave.
Back to work today after having been off since 5/17.

  18. Great shave, Joseph! You can't compare your honing skills with a honemeister that's been doing it for years. However, I am sure you will be a great honemeister at some point. Save your money getting Abram's DVD on honing because you can go to You Tube to see him perform.
