Is it half full because you have used it, or just because you have been sending everyone samples. I guess I will put Speick on my next to try of what you sent me. Currently using Cade and I find it a very mild and subtle scent. It warms a little going on and then cools off.

There is nothing to be ashamed of. There are many IT, "geeks", and pseudo-geeks in this thread. We aren't judging you based on being a SW engineer because you fit right in.

In regards to socks with Birks.... well, have you noticed what the kids are wearing now? Socks with Crocks? Egads, I shudder every time my daughter goes out like that. But every day I see a handful of students that broke that once iron fashion faux pas.

But hey... leg warmers are coming back. Yup... saw several students with leg warmers recently... now they can quietly fade away for another 20 years.

Not much going on everyone, just sitting here listening to the sound of the rain and checking out which routes are closed due to fallen trees or flooding.

Well even after a shave there are plenty of Fuzzy spots.. just not where the Razor went.:D

Well made it into work ok.... Not much going on. Just here for a half day....Gonna make it an hour less then Half prolly.. Did not need to shave this morning but put on some Cade anyway. Nice scent. I got chewed out some for a discussion I was in yesterday and last night. Not sure how I feel about that yet. That is just about all the news for now. More updates as events:D warrant.

Yeah, people misunderstand that comment: they misunderstand what I meant by "baseline." What I meant was that Merkur's are the most common, easily-obtainable "good" blade (compared to, say, Personna's from Walgreens). *Everyone* has tried a Merkur blade at one time or another. So when you see a posting that brand X is "better" than a Merkur or brand Y is "worse" than a Merkur, most everyone can understand the connection.

And, despite the higher literacy rate on the forums, there are a huge amount of people that shave traditionally but have never lurked on the forum. The fact is, in terms of units sold, Merkur blades blow the others out of the water. A year or so ago over on menessentials.com James Whitall said he sells 700-900 packs of Merkurs per *month*. And that's just one retailer.

    Mornin' gang...

Got enough of the NOS blades to last a year or more, especially if I pace myself. Even longer if I squeeze every last shave I can from the newer stuff. And that's if I don't try to grab extras off the bay. :)

    Morning all.

Shawn, whats going on with your computer? If you want you can PM me, I deal with that kind of stuff all the time.

My washer and dryer set that I bought on Black Friday finally arrived yesterday. I finally got everything hooked up last night and running. That thing works so much better than our old set, is quieter, and uses less energy, water, and soap. I like it a lot. I just wish I didn't have to wait for 4 months after I paid for it.

Here is a question for you... Apparently they sold hundreds of these at my sears alone, plus what they sold at every other sears. When I went to pick it up, they canceled out the original transaction and re-ring it. They said because it was in the system for so long, which is kind of understandable. I was going to make sure the warranty started then, I didn't pay for 4 months of warranty while it was being made. Anyway, isn't that kind of investor fraud? That is hundreds of thousands of dollars that showed up in 4th quarter last year, now again first quarter this year. Seems kind of wrong to me, but I know nothing about that stuff.

    Morning everyone.

Mark thanks for the clarification. I have one thing to offer on the Merkurs, and it is only an opinion. When we all started this wet shaving experience most of us used Merkurs then. They were the blade that came with Merkurs and in the sampler packs. We tried them they sucked and we bad mouth them. I wonder if we went back and tried one now if they would be better. I know about 75% of what sucked for me when I started out was my technique. I was just too proud to admit technique and probably blamed it on the blade 90% of the time. Now that my technique is top notch I may just give a merkur a run to compare.

Rodd, glad you got your w/d set. They probably cancelled out the transaction so your warranty did start the day you picked them up. The transaction would have zeroed out so I doubt Sears has much to gain from the cancellation of the transaction.

Used the Mergress again this morning. Used a 3 day old Astra Superior in it. Dang it was a good and smooth shave. I am liking this razor and the AS blades. This means I will now need to buy several blades because I believe I should always have bulk on hand.

Morning yall. Rodd, Thanks and will be chatting with you soon. Got lunch with the mom today so will explain further in detail when I get back. GF has a backup laptop but still not a happy camper. Thinking I am gravitating towards some TSD cedarwood and lemon SS today. Its getting harder to decide these days. I need to just lock the whole collection up and just stick with one huh? What fun would that be! Rodd, will get back to you soon.

    A) yup
    B) Pearls is awesome, so random, love it...so, "Meester Pastees" (crocese) wrote you back? that's awesome
    C) no, not a rickroll, read it, you won't regret it

well then, hey baby! :D

    oh really? name 1.....

Mark beat me to it....I was going to suggest that it's a baseline because it's probably so common, not because it's so great necessarily. Probably most people getting into wetshaving now are getting new Merkur razors, getting a blade or pack free with it, then assuming the since they also make blades they must be good. That was my assumption with the "standard" comment....at least, that was my hope :D

don't wanna discourage you from trying, but just as you've concluded, awhile back I decided to give the Merkur blade another go...wasn't as bad as the first couple times I tried it, but still probably would've had better luck scraping with some frayed piano wire....

in that same vein, I don't know what shave # I'm on with this Yellow 7 o'clock, but I do know it has outperformed any other blade I've tried as far as longevity, I've had it in my black handled superspeed for over two weeks, and still getting good shaves.....take into your calculation:
    A) I haven't shaved everyday
    B) I haven't used it everytime I've shave the past two weeks
I've used a Micromatic a couple of times, and a super adjustable with a Black 7 twice, so that probably makes about 6 or 7 shaves on the Yellow, still with great results
