Let's shave, shall we? As @Bama Samurai so wisely pointed out last night, late in the third period of the game, my night was about to get fun. All I can say is the fans kept me very busy and we all had a great time. One thing that was strange - the expected surge in downtown STL never materialized. Normally we expect the "surge", or price increase based on demand, to rise after a major event. St. Louis had two major events last night. A Phish concert at SLU, and the two major downtown watch parties for the Blues at Enterprise Center and Busch Stadium. We had surges pop up before the game started as people moved downtown, but those surges were out in the 'burbs as expected. At the end of the game as we all sat waiting for that money to rain down? The surge once again appeared........in the 'burbs as people were trying to come downtown to party. I managed to be in a pretty good spot to take advantage when it started but the gridlock kept me tied up downtown for awhile. I made some other runs but the surge passed and NEVER appeared downtown. Nobody was trying to leave. The team was met at the airport at 4 a.m. this morning by a large group of fans and several of the players showed up at Enterprise around 5 a.m. to sign autographs and celebrate with the fans. Don't think I'll ever see anything like that again.

Anywho - I shaved, right? Yes I did. Stayed with the Gillette New LC and the Russian Voskhod. Hmmmmm. Russians sure do like hockey. I chose the Canuck brush, from two of my favorite Canadians. Hmmmmm. Canadians sure do like hockey. The soap? Stirling Black Ice. Hmmmmmm. Hockey is played on ice.

Three passes, with a brief intermission between each pass, and in the end I shut out all irritation and blood and ended up with a perfect result. Probably good enough that I should perhaps be given a trophy for it. Ah well, I'll settle for a cup.

Enjoy your Friday and start to the weekend! Parade starts at noon on Saturday on Market Street!

    Tabac Thursday SOTN

I do love me some Tabac! I had ridiculous lather tonight after blooming the crock for a couple minutes with warm tap water... I felt bad washing it down the drain . This was my first shave with the Aluminum Colonial General tonight and it was deceptively smooth. At times I didn't think it was cutting... No weepers. I can't wait to become more accustomed to it with repeated use. I smell great and am ready for bed after a long day. Happy Friday!

    FRIDAY'S SHAVE

Bath Soap - Early American Old Spice Bubble Bath and matching Bar Soap circa 1930's
    [IMG]
Razor - Gillette Superspeed (circa 1947-1952) (Re-plated in Nickel Finish by Razor Emporium)
    Blade - [IMG] *2nd shave
Shave Brush - Vigshaving Nylon Synthetic
Shave Soap - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices
Aftershave - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices
Deodorant - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices
Fragrance - Vintage Shulton - Early American Old Spice circa 1930's

***EDIT - Great shave today. 2-pass + clean up. The CK5 formula is so good that it's inconceivable why a CK6 formula was ever needed. The CK5 soap gave such a marvelous shave today. The scent of the Early American Old Spice is also fantastic. Love the elegant touch on it. I can't believe the Early American Old Spice vintage isn't a big thing in fragrances since it smells so great. IMO, it's a largely forgotten treasure from the past that deserves a heck of a lot more people talking about it. Anyway, great shave and scent today. Loving it.

    Pears Glycerine Soap
    Haslinger Honig Shaving Soap
    Yaqi Metal 24mm Synthetic Brush
    Rolls Razor
    Alum and Rinse
    Witch Hazel
    Dove Moisturiser
    Benjamins Bay Rum with Pimento

My first shave with my recently acquired Rolls Razor. I am not sure how it should feel in use and I had to remind myself that the blade is actually a wedge and initially I think I had the angle wrong but it improved when I positioned it flatter and used shorter strokes. At times there was some tug......not as sharp as other blades I use but 3 passes left me DFS+ with the satisfaction of having at last....used a Rolls. The shave passed the Alum test....so a very good first attempt.
